Finally found some credible info about this guy.

Is Wooten a good trooper? (7/27/08): Politics | adn.com

He's been a trooper since 2001 and has had multiple disciplinary actions against him - and 4 of the 13 complaints by his wife's family were found to be substantiated.

He's been married/divorced four times - including a marriage since the one in question.

He tasered his stepson, threatened to kill Palin's father, had protection orders lodged against him to keep him away from the sister and (gasp) illegally shot a moose. (I thought at first it said "mouse" and was surprised it was a big offense)

The family may have gone too far - but they weren't the only complainants against this fellow over the years. I've thought of this as many have that a well-known family was going after some poor guy - but seems it's more complex than that.

Maybe they should have started fighting him BEFORE he married into the family!

Yeh, I saw an interview with him on CNN. He is an instructer on taser use in the department and his 11 year old son asked him to test it on him. So he turned it to the lowest level possible which is similar to touching a electrical fence, and then tasered him. Stupid? Yes. of course. He admitted that. However, the step son braged about it at school and wasn't a victim like some are making it seem.

When he killed the Moose illegally he was actually hunting with his father in law who he was accused of threatening to kill. He said he didn't realize it was illegal at that time. He denies the threat against the father in law by the way.

The point is that he was found guilty of a couple of these charges by the trooper department and disciplined. However, evidence is showing, including audio recording which was posted here last week, that the Palin family and admin did put pressure on the commissioner to take further action on the trooper. The commissioner didn't and he was fired.

Before the audio was discovered Palin said she absolutely didn't put any pressure on the commission. Besides the audio, the commissioner is on video saying he was pressured. The commissioner was well liked by his fellow troopers and by just about all accounts seemed to be doing a good job. Palin contradicted herself on why she fired the commissioner also by saying he wasn't effective in one aspect of his job, but then offered him a job in that same area later.
