Love you Mickey Mouse

Just got back from the animal shelter. My cat, Mickey Mouse rapidly became deathly ill. He developed Feline Urinary Blockage and my daughter and I took him to the animal shelter to have him put down.

My daughter, at 15 found a newborn litter of kittens and raised them. When her daughter was born, she gave the two survivors to me ---- Mickey Mouse and Monkey Meat. I've had them for three years, the cats are 10 years old.

He was my hug-bug, giving hugs with his front paws, and was my buddy at the computer, sleeping on the desk or demanding attention. At night, he's the foot cat, purring and cuddling cold feet under the blankets. He will be much missed by this "cat-sitter".

    My condolences to you Dorothy.
I got a cat 5 years ago because I get to attached to dogs and hated cats. Figured that way I wouldn't feel bad if anything happened to him.
Well I'm a cat lover now and my buddy Orlando is never far away when I'm in the house. When I'm on the computer he's usually laying across my lap.
Again I'm sorry for you loss

Sorry for your loss Dorothy. Putting a pet down is a very hard thing to do as we've had to do that before too. I'm sure you gave him a good life if you're anything like we are with our pets.

      Dorothy -

I'm so sorry for your loss - but have to ask...why did you euthanize him rather than treating the condition? Urinary blockage isn't uncommon in male cats and often can be cured with medication that dissolves the crystals in the urine.

He may have been diagnosed with a different type of blockage, of course. Did you take him to the vet for diagnosis?

I recently lost a 20 year old cat and you really do miss them.

        Kay,

I am on SSI, and mostly and effectively treat my animals naturally. I asked family to help with him two weeks ago. Actors and Others for Animals didn't have the funds to any more than put him down as FUS is very expensive to treat: $2,000 for a two day hospitalization. The vet wouldn't give medications or cath as it wasn't covered by the funds from Actors & Others for Animals. I literally have NO money. I did what I could do with what I had to work with, but he needed to be catheterized to remove the blockage. If I had the money, he would have gotten the best care.

That is what is so painful....to me, he was a needless death. All I needed was the money to treat him.

Sorry for your loss, Dorothy. I know it's hard to lose a best buddy.

I still miss my bunny, Blessing - Had him since he was a baby; he was 10 also and he just suddenly crumpled one day so I had to 'bring him in'.

The pet hospital was really nice though - I bought the 'mass burial' in the beautiful Napa Valley and I got a little clay cookie with his footprint with the deal.

It was years ago and I still dream about him. Guess he really was my little angel.

There will always be this little void - I hope you can get another buddy soon to fill your void.

    Kay,

I focused on inflammatory/infection of kidney, bladder, ureters. Opening kidney/bladder channels and qi. My strategy was to drain heat & strengthen kidney/bladder while calming & soothing liver, calming stomach. Get the liver to drain toxins, and eliminate blockage by draining heat/dampness.

I probably should have also focused on dissolving crystals. That didn't occur to me and I probably didn't have a diagnosis in time to treat.

I hate poverty! I researched chinese formulas and had to pick and choose according to what I had to work with, obviously it wasn't enough.

Enough beating myself up. I know now how to protect his brother, and I look forward to things turning around soon.

    Thank you for your friendship,

Ah, geez, Dot - that's really a heartbreak. I am soooo sorry. I understand what it's like to lose a furry kid and wish there was something that could be said to make you feel better. My sympathy is with you. Micky will be patient about waiting for you to cross and see him again.
