When you are looking to buy something of quality which type of buying Guides or Reports do you put your trust in?
For awhile I believed Consumer Reports was the "Authority" but now I am beginning to believe they sell out to the highest bidder. Are there any unbiased ones?

In Australia people look at "CHOICE" https://www.choice.com.au

and I've taken to looking in the reviews on http://forums.whirlpool.net.au

Usually the opinions of family and close friends is sought but I've noticed that their opinions can be easily swayed by social media and advertising particularly when there is a strong feeling of being "part of the majority" ...refer to Cialdini "Influence"

I believe Claude is totally unbiased, or at least I think Kurt said unbiased.

    Hardly any.

I do go to them as a google search, ie. "Best music keyboard under 1000 buyers guide 2015"

    BUT

    Here's the problem:

While many begin with the soft soap of "I tried a bunch and here's what I think," it almost always turns out that they have a preferred manufacturer. So it isn't a buyers guide at all, but rather a sales piece disguised as informed, unbiased information.

And I get concerned, because I'm wary about these things, but figure the general public isn't. The guide creators should have to write a disclaimer but they don't.

IMO you'd have to do a lot of searching to find truly unbiased ones. All they're good for is a snapshot with a preferred manufacturer.
