I've been thinking of getting one of these and just putting money into a lot of land around it instead of putting money into the house and having a postage stamp of land with a crowd surrounding me.

      Sal,

Have you thought about living and/or traveling in a van? I'm not saying you should, but it looks like it could be an interesting lifestyle.

      Just asking.

I've been researching this lately too Sal.

The biggest issue is zoning. A lot of places require a larger dwelling in order to put the smaller structure in place.

There are some communities now starting to grow, but it's got to be somewhere that you'd like to be.

I think the custom route is the way to go for such a tiny place. To me it's really gotta "fit" like a glove.

I have been studying the different types of multi use furniture, and started picking out things I want.

Now if I were really clever I'd start making one mini doll house size, and then could pass it off to someone who could make sure it was a sound design and have my plans drawn up from that.

Will have to settle for some sketches for the time being.

Where I'd park mine would not be somewhere that I'd be all too worried about "zoning". I want away from that kind of crap - not in the middle of it. When I said land, I meant land - not "lot".

I've been thinking about that just since winter set in. Not a "van" but an RV. I'd like to go south in the winter and come back north in the summer. These 3 month freeze outs are starting to get to me. I'd kind of like to have one spot to land both North and South though rather than just rambling continually. I get enough of that just on my own without taking a house with me. I like to be in a small community where I know the people. I've moved and roamed a hell of a lot and don't see it as something I would want to do 24/7.
