Planning first blog
Been a member here forever and found the answers most times by just searching so never had to ask a whole lot. Looking at starting a blog and checked here but now area specifically mention "Blogging" except the "Tag" in the menu. So hope I am posting here correctly.
As my username suggests. I am a true old world stick in the mud. I stay with what has always worked for me. But now I am planning a blog, I've always done websites for a long time but I have always been closed minded about blogs until now. I do have a hosting account however am at the moment looking at close that out but it is a unlimited bandwidth-unlimited websites-unlimited everything account I have been with for close to 10 years. I think it runs me $125 a year seems like.
Since I have been stupidly closed minded about blogs, and I mean really stupidly closed minded, I need a bit of advice.
Should I consider maintaining this hosting plan or would I find a cheaper plan from a host whom specializes in blogs?
I will more than likely get a domain for my blog and I assume blog domains are the same as a website domain as far as cost?
If I get the domain what host would be a good host if I change my host based on the hosting price I specified that I am paying?
I started doing websites when you coded your website by hand. Then like everyone else I moved to web editors as they got sufficient at doing the same job, but I have never used wordpress and if anyone knows of a good web tutorial for uploading and using wordpress as a beginner? Even though I am well versed I don't mind being spoon-fed at this point.
And last, in the past I have hosted sites on my home server. But that has been a while. Considering hosting my blog on my home server if you can even do that. So is that a possibility? If so is anyone doing this or do you know anyone whom is doing this? Thanks in advance.
