What's with all the celebrity deaths lately? Here is some early Eagles from 1972. Glenn Frey wrote "Take It Easy," "Tequila Sunrise," "Lyin' Eyes," and "Heartache Tonight," and co-wrote "Hotel California" and "Desperado" with Don Henley. Take it easy, Mr. Frey.

Here's the official note from the Eagles:

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016.

Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia.

The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery.

Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.

  Although I was Not the hugest Eagles fan, they wrote some unbelievable music.
  
  And Frey was a big part of that. Just a rock icon if there ever was one.
  
  So sad as I didn't know anything about this
  
  Hotel California every bit right up there with Stairway to Heaven and Freebird

WOW - another death? Too many too quick. This is more sad news and another death that should have been a decade or more in coming.

  Yes Frank, there seems to be clear evidence of that. (unless of course your Kieth Richards) Overdoing the drugs and drink early on seems to be catching up with them even though they may have been clean for years.
