Crane fell, zika = aids 2.0, global economic death spiral, everybody has new war jets, 11 year old executed, Dave Mirra suicide, and Aleppo might as well just get wiped off the map.

I had to go look at kitten/puppy pictures for a few minutes.

De Blasio said there likely would have been more victims if workmen weren't already clearing the area of traffic and people to prepare for lowering the crane. "Thank god it was not worse," he said.

How on earth are they going to clean that up? Seriously, how does one go about removing that? Do they cut it up and haul it out piece by piece?

I'm seriously considering a do-it-yourself mosquito extermination niche site. I don't know anything about the niche so I doubt I'll do it, but uh yeah... That stuff is spreading seriously fast. People went berserk over ebola, which there was < 30k cases, it was hard for me to find an "official" number of zika but I've seen numbers as high as 1.5 million and the virus was basically non-existent last year. Granted, it doesn't kill people who become infected, but we don't really have any idea if there are any long term effects from being exposed to it.

I spent an hour the other day trying to figure out if you get Zika, will you have the virus forever like hepatitis/hiv or does it "go away" some time after the potential infection subsides. If anybody knows, I'd love a response either way (cited please.)

I saw the videos of the Syrian cities yesterday - and nothing else has made much of an impression since.

How can the world stand by and let people (on both sides of that war) be starved to death?

January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.

The Zika virus is very mild - - and lasts only a few days. Once you've had it - you are immune to it for life.

BUT - if you are a pregnant women....the Zika virus (though mild for you) can be devastating to your fetus. What isn't known is how long the effects might endanger a pregnancy (after a woman has had the virus).

Most cities in the "mosquito belt" in the southern US have automatic truck spraying programs in place for summer months. Many have begun spraying early this year and more often.

Ty, I actually quoted something you wrote and was able to find some information via google.

"Zika virus usually remains in the blood of an infected person for about a week but it can be found longer in some people."

After checking Syria crisis fast facts and overview of the refugee situation | World Vision it appears the refuge crisis and death toll in Syria are actually a much worse problem then I though (assuming that site is accurate.)

I initially didn't want to respond since political discussions are not allowed here. So I am unable to really say what I feel about this matter, but I've been following it for quite some time.

Why are Syrians fleeing their homes?
          1. Violence: Since the Syrian civil war began, 320,000 people have been killed, including nearly 12,000 children. About 1.5 million people have been wounded or permanently disabled, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.4 The war has become more deadly since foreign powers joined the conflict.
And it's only going to get worse.

I'm not a napper, but I'm just relaxing today. I woke up and started starring at web logs (this always leads to most of my day being wasted.) Then checked the news, left a few feedbacks at the free lancer sites because jobs completed. That's all I did today so far. I'll get some stuff done after dinner.

I dunno, I feel bloated and tired today. Not sure what's up. Probably the zika virus.

Oh: I did my daily exercise routine. I did get that done.

Lol, I think there's a name for that where people see/read something & think they have symptoms.

If you are the sexual partner of someone who is preggers, you now need to wear a condom or abstain from sex as they think it can be sexually transmitted. It can attack the fetus at any stage.

On another note, this is why I don't watch the news anymore. I get my news from you guys or from my sister at the dinner table. lol

I'm good thanks. All of my sites fall into a few general concepts (big niches) and I'm not a doctor so I'm not going to touch a niche specific to a disease. I don't really think that's ethical. All of my sites will pass this basic test and that test is the question "Does this help people?" and I really doubt a Zika Prepper site does that.

I was under the impression the virus was carried in your blood permanently, which I don't think is true, but the media is certainly making it out to sound that way.

I'm sure they'll let it sit in the street until the accident is investigated (police, insurance, etc...) then scrap the metal. The crane is long but it would only take about one day to cut that up with a few guys and acetylene torches. The street will probably remain closed for a long time until the buildings are inspected. It looks like some bricks laying on the sidewalks.
