Slow computer problem

Hi, my computer got very slow lately. I am using avast and malware cleaner as well but it does not help. Please help.

    Thad said, if you've tried all of the usual suspects as far as utility software goes, you might have a hardware issue. Your drive could be failing, you could have bad RAM, etc.

    Gustavo. Malware is probably like the 7th most likely cause of a slow computer. The more likely ones include:

    1. fragmentation.
    2. not enough free space for the lousy overhead of windows.
    3. bad pointers in the registry.
    4. ram problems.
    5. disk problems.
    6. etc....

    I have had similar issues in the past. I believe there is a way to do system cleans just within the system itself however I don't remember. My Grandpa showed me a way on an older system I had. If you have a newer system like windows 8 or better, you can do a restore that will get it back to how it was when you purchased it. It was worth it for me to do that on my last computer, But I must warn you that in doing that, while it ran faster having lost the viruses, I had to back up everything and lost my license to Microsoft word. I have a new computer now but that was quite an issue for me.
