Coming from Black holes, proving Albert Ironside was right. I hope they waved back.

This is a great find indeed. Imagine, 2 Black holes caught in a spiral Death trap producing immense energies superseding all the suns in the universe. This would be a great window for the Big Bang.

This is all exciting stuff. I cant wait in the next 10 to 20 years. Hey Einstein, they finally got it right!

They haven't seen anything, they've detected what they think exist.

They'll never see anything a billion light-years away.

Please look up connotations of the word "Seen" before making comments like that.

            Really?

            Where's the proof, theory?

Why are you arguing against something just for the sake of it?

A long standing theory that has been predicted by Albert Einstein has been proven to be so by science. That's the end of it really.

It's one of those "it kind of has to be there but we can't really prove it" problems and to be fair I don't think they've actually proven it by reading the article. But that's the point of science.

So you're saying one theory proves another theory.

Oh, it's pretty deep, but you'll never get to the bottom.

The hole keeps filling up with little baby fluffy bunnies. Those dang rabbits keep reproducing like crazy!!

Its not one theory proving another theory. Its detecting real data that confirms a theory. This exactly what you want to support a theory. it doesn't even mean the theory is right in every way but points to be it being right in at least some ways. this looks solid to me . I don;t know what the objection is about.

My only caveat is that I tend to wait awhile before making pronouncement of certainty a finding is correct. It wouldn't be the first time an announcement like this turned out to not be quite what it was. However this one seems to be very solid unlike some others.

Yes, and no text books have this so it has to be fake, LOL!

Or.....Or...(And I'm just guessing here) no science text books have this...

        because it was discovered yesterday.

        Just a thought.

Yes, Claude your logic is impeccable, but for some here, gravity waves might give them the willies, so they don't exist!

What fascinated me about this is the brilliance of Einstein in seeing a pattern and interpreting it as a theory.

Ok, so what does this actually mean in real world prospects? Space travel, time travel? What we talking?

It just means that we can barely hear the universe, which will open up how the universe began, (well, if it did)!

Supposed to be up there with Galieo looking at the planets with his telescope, but l don't see what all the fuss is about?

Although learning more about how gravity waves effect, space/time and matter is more interesting?

If a civilization figures out how to corral these waves in the right way, it could do some weird stuff!

Its like finding out there was a second way of seeing you had not been using before or knew existed. it opens up a new way to explore questions about the universe. Its not so much about the waves themselves as the fact that the waves can give us information we didn't have before about the universe we live in.
