The housing market around you?

As I'm still looking for a home, i'm constantly watching the real estate market in tampa/st. pete and things are really starting to pop here. If you have the money, this area has a lot of stuff hitting the market. Just in the last week or two there has been atleast 20 properties hit the small market i'm looking at, so i would guess there are even more than that across the board.

I would guess that most of these are foreclosure/reposession because i'm checking them out a day or so after they hit the local mls and you can tell there were probably people living in these at the beginning of the week.

How are houses around you?

What does 85-90k buy in your area? Thats the range im looking in here, and that gets a 40-50 year old house, cinder block construction, central heat/ac, between 1100-1800 sq. feet, 1-2 car garage, probably tile roof, or new shingle, (maybe pool) on .25-.5 acre in the city of st. pete. These are standard issue st. petersburg fl houses, there are thousands of them in the city.

My whole trip from Wenatchee to Kuna - about 500 miles was nothing but a stretch of a lot of houses for sale. I don't think they are reporting the full extent of the crisis. Not sure what the pricing is as I didn't check any of it out - I just know that if you have the money and want to live about anywhere, you're not going to be at a loss for finding a place. Usually that is not the case in rural areas.

Yeah, i have like 15 to look at tomorrow. I spend about 2 hours a night treking over to st. pete to look at houses before it gets dark out then do walk throughs on the weekend. Normally its like 3-4 hours at most, but i'm getting like 3-4 houses a day now. Lot of foreclosures

In my part of the world 85 to 90K might get you a mobile home on an acre of land, if you go farther up in Maine, you can get a fairly decent house for that price.

Same here. If you go into north florida, you can get a 2-3 year old house, 2000+ sq. foot, 1/2 acre of land. Many homes havent even been lived in yet. But you'll also be commuting for about an hour if you work in tampa or st. pete.

If you can afford it, buy up as many houses as you can right now, and just rent them out. The foreclosure and auction market is a goldmine; prices may not ever be this low again.
