Elf Links Help Needed

A good friend of mine has asked me to help her with Elf Links, but I confess I'm just as confused as she is.

She's attempting to set up Amazon links to 2 graphics, one of the product and the other of a Buy Now button.

We've extracted the affiliate part of the link Amazon provides, and we've installed both graphics in herblog.com/images/graphic.jpg

Both these links display when you just cut and paste them into the address bar, but when we do the same using the appropriate boxes in Elf Links and place the code this generates into the blog, nothing shows up.

She's tried contacting customer service, but all she received in reply was a note telling her she didn't know what she was doing.

Well, I thought I was internet and WordPress savvy, but I can't get it to work either.

She found a tutorial on YouTube: https://youtu.be/aMaaPoiKkUM
The guy there takes the entire Amazon affiliate link and breaks it down into the part pointing to the product and affiliate, then the image part.

She's tried that method and so have I, but the image still refuses to show up in her WP post.

Maybe there's someone in the WF who can guide her because I'm at a loss.

Thanks
Anne

Since customer service was no help, try PM'ing Brian Kindsvater here. He should get you sorted out.

    Annie,

I looked at a how to video, because I wasn't familiar with this. It DOES talk about using an elflinks plugin. Did you use THAT? Did you setup the link on elflinks? It LOOKS like this works by having the PLUGIN look for a special span tag AND, if it sees that, and it detects the visitor is not google, it inserts the code you have setup.

As for amazon customer support? MOST customer support, and even most "TECHNICAL" support today knows almost NOTHING! If you can get in touch with someone there to help affiliates, or website authors, your chances will go from almost nothing, to maybe as high as 50% of getting an answer. STILL, with this, I would suggest going to elflinks. Since it seems that BRIAN IS the one that is leading this:

I use this plugin - in conjunction with the new plugin that goes with it and ez azon.

No issues what so ever. Wonderfully, the images are linked properly too.

Have not tried a manual linking on this.

If you're still struggling by the end of today and have not heard from Brian, shoot me a message and I might be able to help you figure it out. His instructions are all in the members area. Takes a bit of time to really read them thoroughly.

Supposed to be waiting in line right now at the IRS (lol) and then need to drive a couple of hours somewhere and put some work in. But I'll check back in sometime around cocktail hour later.

Shoot me a PM if you are still desperate at the end of the day.

Hi everyone and thanks for your replies. I was awake on and off last night with this issue churning through my head

In addition to the Elf Links plugin, you also have to instal and set up another plugin: 'Easy Plugin for Adsense'. It's needed for Elf Links to function and initially I wasn't aware of this.

I've discovered that one of the necessary settings isn't holding. My friend swears she entered everything exactly as directed and I've done the same thing and 'saved' the changes, but the very first entry: [elf_links] in the first box vanishes.

This must be the problem. I'm wondering if there's a conflict between 'Easy Plugin for Adsense' and another of her plugins. She doesn't have many so it should be an easy elimination process.

Anyway, thanks again everyone for all your input. I really appreciate it

        Anne

EDIT: It was the Yoast plugin causing the problem/conflict. After I disabled it. the entry in Easy Plugin for Adsense held and Elf Links worked like a charm.
