Why not just quit posting and walk away? You have a whole 56 posts in 8 years. It's not like you're leaving an encyclopedia of knowledge behind.

Concerning your first question... Under EU regulations you'd have to delete my account and the work I've left behind. Facebook and other large companies also have to deal with similar requests under legal requirements. I wouldn't have to provide reasons as to why I'd like to have my account deleted. It's a private matter.

And finally, I can admit that I haven't left an encyclopedia of knowledge behind. Had I done so, I'd be reluctant to delete my account. Being perfectly honest, I reckon my work has been quite poor. Deleting my posts and account would probably enhance your credibility... It certainly wouldn't diminish it.

I don't buy what you've said. If these rules were enforceable, the likes of Facebook, Google, Amazon etc wouldn't have to comply with account deletion requests. Secondly, this site is being accessed in the UK, not Australia. :-)

Anyway, I won't bother arguing with you because you obviously understand nothing about internet laws and privacy.

What amazes me is how the site's administrators are failing to listen to their users. Can't believe they're this short sighted. They could delete my account in a matter of seconds, but would prefer to stir up resentment.

You miss the point. You agreed to and digitally signed a private contract (which probably nobody ever reads anyway) of terms and conditions to gain access to this site. I think you will find that you do not have a leg to stand on legally wherever you are in the world.

..you haven't posted here since 2012 and no one would have found ANY of your previous comments had you not bumped your own acct with this thread. Forum ownership has changed since then. You began the thread quoting EU law - the forum is based in Australia now...so...

I don't see that you said or did anything 4-5 years ago that would cause you embarrassment now - so what's the point of making such a fuss?

Upon your request, we will deactivate or delete your account and contact information from our active databases.
They can "deactivate" the acct without removing all previous posts/threads from it.

I'm sorry... Is there some system in place to prevent you from editing your own posts and or deleting your responses? Something I'm missing here?

Are you sure you're not being a jackwagon about this?

          Go delete everything yourself...

It's not their job to comply with your unreasonable request.

Go delete all your stuff and then request to be permanently banned.

Edit: OH BOY, it's one of you FIAT currency conspiracy loony toons.

            You beat me to it.

Yeah, just delete your own posts. It would only take a minute.

You mean just like you could delete all your posts in a matter of seconds?

The only one here trying to stir up resentment is you.

Claude - if he started a thread others responded to - he could not remove that post.

However, he could edit all of his own posts to say "content removed". When I see someone has done that I think they look what my mother would call "peevish"...but whatever.

          You know what?

I'd rather have some reasonably intelligent comments I made on a blog years ago remain...than edit them to make myself look like a child having a tantrum....just sayin

Changing all the thread titles to question marks reflects on YOU - not on the forum.

BUT BUT. The BANKS would still know, that he knows, and he knows that they know, that he knows......... about matters that are public record and you can go read about it at the public library? PREFERABLY, not written by a person who's intention is to make the planet's financial system sound evil for no reason other than to sell books.

Things are probably done differently in Australia I guess. Companies in the UK have to comply with such requests. Doesn't change the fact that you've damaged your reputation though. I'm not the only person who has complained about this, and I guess many more individuals will. You're doing yourselves long term damage and the information on your website isn't entirely transparent. Try listening to your users.

Go delete your own posts man...

Quick before the EU banks find out.

Better hurry! They're probably tracking everything you do on these forums!

Simple. Go back and edit all your previous posts and change them all to political and/or religious rants. The mods will delete your posts immediately.

NB I'm not a lawyer, and the above was meant as a joke and therefore should not be construed as advice of any kind, especially legal.

Haha, shoot the messenger. We're living in a funny world aren't we? I probably am being a 'jackwagon' but so are the administrators responsible for dealing with such requests. We're used to getting our own way regarding matters as such in the UK. Couldn't predict that I'd have to behave like a jackwagon to get my account deleted. Thought these issues could be resolved in a civilised manner.

Welcome to anywhere else in the world outside of the U.K.

Honestly, your sense of entitlement is stunning.

Take some responsibility for your own digital footprint. You can take 5 minutes and wipe your own posts as numerous people have suggested, or just walk away as numerous others have suggested.

Either way, your impact here will have been the same... entirely forgettable. That seems to be your goal anyway. You just set it back some, but disappear now and you'll be right back on track.

Yes, I guess it's the way things are done around here. You have to at least make an effort to get yourself banned. Turns out that I'm useless at it.
