Hi Yolanda, welcome! I have not been to PR China in 10 years at least. Must see in Beijing are the People's Palace and Tienanmen Square, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City and a trip to one of the non-crowed parts of the Great Wall. The Mutanyu access to the Greal wall was very good with some quite steep hikes and some very beautiful backgrounds for pictures. I am not sure if many hutongs left with all the Olympics work that has probably destroyed most of the traditional housing. If any hutongs left go and walk around the hutongs. I remember miles of walking in Beijing with a map both in English and Chinese that the hotel had given me. It was quite an experience and I got lost several times. No one except one time spoke any English. It was very confusing but fun! This is the whole point of travelling, to discover and experience! China is a huge place and so diverse too. You can take your whole life visiting China. I wish you a great trip and a good time in China. |
