Reality Check... I Work 80 Hours For Myself So I Don't Work 40 Hours For Someone Else...

I always belly laugh when I hear people say, "I work 80 hours for myself so I don't work 40 hours for someone else..."

I don't know of one "salaried Professional" who works 40 hours every week... and goes home when her Boss "asks" for free overtime.... Most average 50-60 hours per week.... with 70+ hours per week at times.

The "lucky" people are the "lower level" employees who are paid hourly..... Many of them make more than the "salaried Professionals" do per hour.

Here's a reality check.......

Ten Ways Salaried Employees Get Ripped Off

I only have had low-level jobs.

I always got the impression that the higher paid employees wanted to be in my shoes- as crazy as it sounds.

      Not crazy at all.....

      Do the math.....

Who makes more per every hour worked?

It is not about the "highest salary." :-)

I had to get out a calculator out and double check myself.

You pay taxes? What do you think Obama is going to come take your money? I just buy gold coins and write them off as a business expense, and then hide them somewhere. My company somehow made $500 last year, woops. Between all of the "marketing data" and the insane salary the CEO demands, it's amazing the company is still in business at all.

    Salaried Employee reporting in ...

I must work for a great company. Anytime I have to go "Above and Beyond" it usually results in a telecommute day (which is basically code word for stay at home and do jack s**t).

Also, I don't really "work" 40 hours per week. Most of my time at work is spent on personal projects/Internet Marketing.

Guess I'm just one of those lucky few!

Right. Google --> marketing in underwear <-- and you should find one of the good guys in IM, Mark Hess.

I know that he recently moved he and his underwear operation into an office environment, though. He did shoot a picture of the signage at his office complex...the marketing in underwear brand looks good, definitely an eye catcher.

      Cheers

I always put a shirt and some pants on.

You never know the FBI/Police might show up while you're "marketing."

If someone is working 80 hours per week online then they need to seriously either outsource there efforts or automate it. If your looking to automate your traffic efforts then let me know since I have several traffic software that I have built.

Coming from someone who is trying to get traffic from a thread in the off-topic section.

There is a bill going through legislation here in NY that, if passed, is going to force companies to pay overtime to salaried employees.

      Why should they.

That's going to lead to more layoffs.

More backwards thinking about people getting paid for their time.

You're not hired to lose money for the company.

The employer makes money because of the employee.

The employee is effectively trading their life, for money, to make the company money, so that they can survive. This relationship is effectively slavery, with the option to find a "new master."

Forcing companies to pay their employees in a manner that is fair, would lead to more jobs, but less income. Or, less likely, it should result in pay reductions for certain people within the company, who pay themselves ridiculous amounts of money, solely because they have the ability to. Which, that's not going to happen.

The biggest problem with wage stagnation in the US is that employers are not giving pay raises, it's not that the companies aren't making record profits, because many of them are. The utilitarian logic here would be "well if the employees are unhappy with their income level, they will seek other employment, we can replace them with an employee at a lower income level, so our company paying less makes the company more money in every outcome." There is no longer honor between employers and their employees, the employees are treated like merchandise.

I'm pretty sure a bunch of brainwashed people, who think the money supply comes from their employer, are going to attack me now. Which is fine. I feel sorry for you, even though you sleeping through economics class is not my problem. If you paid attention you would have realized "wow, so that's how that works, it seems pretty stupid for me to go work for somebody else... Why would I want to get money from an employer when I can get it from the source?"

No, but I move a lot of money around, you have to spend money to make money? You know? And everything I buy is, uh, not real... It's "things that only exist on the internet."

Unless you make as much money as Frank Kern I think the FBI will pursue other opportunities.
