You can find the recommended specs on the Camtasia page.

That said, if you want to PayPal me $20, I'll take the time to do your work for you. Your call.

I'll do it for $15, and I'll do it better. (Sorry, Frank - it's nothing personal, it's just business.)

4MB for video work is way low for this day and age. Heck, I find 8GB is barely enough RAM for basic image work once Photoshop, Bridge and a few other apps are loaded.

First the cost of it is far higher than a Windows 10 laptop. Something suitable/powerful enough with 8 gigs of ram could be bought in the 5-6 hundred dollar range, or less. And you could get a 17.3 inch display, better for graphics or video work. Apple only make up to 15.6 these days and that's their most expensive model.

Secondly, and this is a biggie. If your going into IM then it's likely you will want to run some utility desktop software, most of which is STILL only written for Windows. You would have to go through the expense and hassle of buying a Windows Emulator, not to mention Windows itself.

Get the strongest computer your money can buy with an extra external harddrive in the couple of TB range for video storage.

Then get busy and fill it up with new video content and your product creations. If you need a break on pricing a laptop cheap deals site with discount club may be just the ticket. Do a search on FB and google.

I'll do an absolutely lousy job for $70 that will take twice as long.

But because I'm more expensive, you'll want it more.

Not everybody likes Best Buy but that's their personal opinion. Personally I have purchased many products from them over the years. Last year my HP laptop needed a new keyboard.Best Buy fixed it ahead of time, still working with no complaints.

The HP is a good product, had mine a few years now. Dell is another good company, if you buy it thru them and have a good credit score. They will offer very reasonable monthly payments. Plus purchased thru a business, Dell will give you plenty of support if needed.

Most laptops may just come down to personal preference, I have heard good things from a Acer user awhile back. Look at buying a laptop with the latest Windows 10 installed on it. The upgrade from 7 to 10 Sucks ! IMHO

These are my best bet, Toshiba, Apple, Lenovo.

Specifications to look out for are:

    Speed 2.0
    Ram 3GB
    Hard disk 250 GB

If you have the money why don't you just go for a gaming laptop such as core i7.

Core i3 and i5 can still serve you very well.

I'm interested in getting the same power out of a smaller footprint. So was Jobs, the Macbook Air and Apple's latest incarnations. This one has apparently beaten Apple at their own game. At least they put several of these latest usb ports in it. Only a 13.3 inch screen though, disappointing, This retina display thing is good but I like a bigger screen.

Says he with the large Dell I5 PC under his desk, 28" monitor and an inexpensive 17.3" HP 2014/15 laptop. $399.00 in a Bestbuy Post Xmas sale

I have two older laptops under my bed gathering dust. Interesting to see how much sleeker they are getting. No catch anymore when you close them, just an ingenious snap shut lid.

So you prefer a big box but with elegant design?. Their days are numbered. Did you look at that thumb drive sized one that slots into the hdmi of your tv that I posted. Solid state hd. Amazing stuff for 100 bucks.

You do realize, I hope, that Apple never rests on its laurels and the next iteration of their Pro model will more than likely, once again, top everything else out there.

Of course a newer model by a company will surpass the last model by another company. That's what drives design and technology forward. And on and on it goes.

      Frank

P.S. Desktop computers will never disappear. I've been hearing that for 15 years. Not in my lifetime, at least.

Lets see now, it suggests that you get any old computer, new or second hand (no make, model, design or other specifications recommended) as long as it has a lot of ram. Well that's ok then.
