What happens to your business when you injure yourself?

I have had my IM business for several years. Things have been humming along great until a few weeks ago. I broke my ankle and am laid up for a few weeks. Fortunately, there has been no dip in business.

Curious what others have done when they were suddenly stopped in their tracks. And... is your business able to sustain itself for any period of time should an injury, illness or emergency happen to you?
#injuries on the job. #sustainable business

    Hi Kathleen,

These unfortunate things happen to Warriors all the time. You should check on the Main Warrior Forum as well and you will see that people have too fallen on unexpected health issues, such as heart attacks, car accidents, etc.

However, with all due respect, you should read this thread. This will really put things into perspective for you, if you think you've got it bad.

I personally can't imagine how many of them do it at all. They work their business and still have time to help others out here on this forum.

Many of their stories brought tears to my eyes. They've been such a great inspiration to me.

These folks are THE REAL WARRIORS around here! They are strong and somehow manage to soldier on and get things done, no matter what ailments/disabilities or obstacles they have to face each and everyday!

Hope they inspire you just as much as they have me!

    Wishing YOU a speedy recovery!

    All the best,

    JMB

It depends on your business model. At least one passive income stream is good to have.

There is disability insurance to help in these situations. Shop around for rates that are favorable for self employed people.

I'm fortunate that my wife makes more than enough to pay all the bills
now that the mortgage is paid and my daughter's college is paid.

If I couldn't work anymore, no big deal. I'd just close up shop.

What I make right now basically goes in the bank. On top of that, my wife
is set to retire in about 5 years. Her pension and tax shelter will be more
than enough to keep us going.

So in my case, IM is just a lucrative hobby for me.

Heh -- I can just see your wife saying the same thing...

"My husband makes more than enough online to pay all our bills. So if I couldn't work, I'd just quit my job. In my case, my job is just a lucrative hobby."
