why not just live out of a "camper van"....

Why not just sell everything, live out of a camper van, and go see anything and everything you can with the time you have left. Meanwhile running your online business??? Also taking occasionally an overseas trip somewhere exotic? Ever thought about doing that???

The idea has seriously crossed my mind. The only thing I'm kinda waiting for is to either making some more money online and or waiting for more hybrid vans to come out. So far the only one slated for launch is the 2017 crystler pacifica which is extremely good on gas. Alternatively you could get a class B rv which is basically a camper van. But be prepared to spend a lot on gas so you'd have to have a good income already to make it work.

But you could go see all of north america, even central and south america if you so desired. You'd see s crap load of stuff before you croaked.

Good idea or bad????

A fairly well known marketer did just that a few years ago, and appeared to have a fantastic time travelling the country in his van, networking in each town or city that he stopped by.

    It's an appealing idea.

You can also "volunteer" at campgrounds all over. This is particularly popular with retired/semi retired people. You have to spend 2 weeks at the campground but you stay for free. You have to do small tasks such as cleaning sites when people leave, or trash detail, or something similar that is usually 2 or 3 hours a day. This is a great alternative. See the south in the winter and the north in the summer.

ya....cleaning out the outhouses with your bare arms, breathing in sh** all day. I think that would be just great. I'll get right on that!

I think realistically either a white van, or a class B rv would be the best. I tried sleeping in my prius and it kinda sucked. It was managable just barely. But only in a pinch. You really need a van otherwise you won't like it.

    No!

I would p**** away my valuable time, driving and seeing stuff, instead of making money.

I would rather make the cash first, then go on a holiday second.

Then make some more, and go and buy the usual stuff.

Good luck living in a van when it's 3 AM, 17 degrees outside with snow up to your ass and you need to take a dump.

      weeeeel, oh oooohgoody

but you still got wifi interwebs right

so you still can place an offer tonight

and got some decent results & breakfast next morning, right

got some breakfast myself - 3 PM myself - on the beach today
because i work around the clock this month - never know
when its day or night - except when i have to put on shades
,,, then we probably hit a main market...prime time

so let's have a double expresso right now... damn right

You just need to know where to cut-out the hole in the floor of your van.

Not sure what "camper van" means, but I've considered getting an RV and living/working out of it while traveling the US for a while.

RVs are a great idea. Today in a national park, tomorrow in the Rockies, next week
down to Florida. Then cross country, stop over in Nevada for a drink, then north California.

...and some people spend their lifes in an office on the 37th floor looking out the window

    dreaming....

    about the true life

that somehow never happens in that city

    ....except on TV

For me the debate is between a self contained RV or a pick up truck towing a travel trailer. An RV is easier to drive but being able to unhitch a trailer and just use a pickup also has benefits.

If it's just you or even two people maybe consider a slide-in truck camper. Easier to drive/park than an RV and I think some US states don't even make you pay yearly tax on the slide-in like an RV or regular camper.

This way you get to travel, have all the basics (bed, kitchen, bathroom, etc...). If you decide you don't want to travel anymore you'll still have a truck, just sell or park the slide-in camper.

I see lots of RV's towing cars and pickups.

Me too...what a hassle. If I went the RV route, I'd probably just get a motorized bike. However, since I already own a pickup with a cap, a trailer makes more sense for me. But my truck is only a 6 cylinder so it'd have to be a small trailer.

Sounds like a viable plan. Just depends on the number of people and the anticipated terrain. They say Nebraska is nice in the fall. :-)

I just think if I had the chance I would. Even better leave the country and do that in Europe where I can see some things worth seeing, other than more franchises.

I know what you mean....Yellowstone, a crawfish festival in Louisiana, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, Big Sur, Reno plane races and so many other places and events in the USA just aren't worth seeing.
