HA! Marion Barber, Jason Witten, and the Cowboys receiving unit are going to make the Tampa Bay defense wish they were back in school!

      Sorry, Teresa.

I clicked the Thanks button for your post when I read the first part of it. It's sure to be a good game.

However, I had to remove the thanks when I saw you were accidentally cheering for the wrong team.

      Go Pack Go!

Other than that, I'm looking forward to Brett Favre coming to Lambeau as a Viqueen - should be interesting.

        Hey no take backs!!! lol

It's all good though. I have family in Appleton outside of Green Bay and many others throughout WI as well - I still love em' even if they do cheer for the Packers.

Besides, I'm in Iowa and we don't even have any professional teams.

    Michael,

I lived in Tampa for almost 20 years. The Bucs were my second favorite team. I was rooting for them before they got good. The Culverhouse days. And they will beat the Cowboys Sunday.

      You mean the McKay days
I was living there in the beginning myself Dave, they have been my team ever since the first game.
Though I've always been thankful for Culverhouse starting the franchise, he did nothing to improve the team IMHO.

Man do we have a tough schedule this year

John McKay had the greatest sports quote of all time:

After another bad loss, a reporter asked, "Coach, what do you think about the execution of your team?"

        McKay, "I'm all for it."

    Thom,

Culverhouse once made a statement that if he could fill the place 50% he'd still make money. My boss had season tickets that he never used so I got to go to some good games.I watched Doug Williams bring them back to beat Da BERSSS'. What a game!

Honestly, I have lost all interest in sports. I live near the biggest city in
the world (New York) and most of these teams suck.

New York Mets (next to last)
      New York Rangers (so-so)
New Jersey Devils (not what they were)
      New York Islanders (so-so)
New York Knicks (suck big time)
      New Jersey Nets (suck)
      New York Jets (so-so)
      New York Giants (decent)

The only team really good is the Yankees and my family hates them so I
can't watch any of their games anyway.

As a result, I have just given up on following sports. I'd rather write songs
      and play video games.

I envy you guys who live near winning teams.

But Steven, the Jets have Mark Sanchez this year!! Oh wait...QB's from USC rarely grow up to be good NFL QB's. :p

Maybe you could write a blues song about how bad it sucks to grow up as a sports fan in New York and the only local team you don't like is the Yankees.

Seriously though, the Giants are better than decent and as long as Eli is there you have a good shot at the Superbowl - even without Plexico Burress.

Here's a couple of my favorites Dave.
      1."We couldn't score against a strong wind."
2."We stunk. We blocked bad, we were terrible on defense and our kicking game made up for it by being absolutely horrible. I saw nothing that delighted me, we ran on the field fairly well."
      3. "It will be good to go on the road. I think the fans have seen enough of us."
and the classic all time best.
In response to a question about his team's execution - "I'm all in favor of it."

    BKenn if you mean Bardstown,

I was just through there the other day and spotted a Wing Place I'm pretty sure will show the games I can't get at home. I just might have to drive over there and eat some wings while I watch the game.I wouldn't mind sharing.

If you're an NFL fan, could you help me beta test a new site of mine?

www.ProfootballUpdates.com is a site I built that takes NFL related news for each team and creates a newsletter for each team on autopilot.

Can you sign up for your favorite team(s), tell me how much the news updates from day to day, then unsubscribe after a couple of days? I want to make sure folks can unsub without problems.

Depending on the team, the newsletters are sent out between 12 AM and 5 AM, PT.

I'd really appreciate the help and if you love NFL football, you'll probably like the site...It's only a few days old, but check it out:

Thanks guys...Ptone, the "autoresponder" is actually my own newsletter script...But I don't want to hijack this thread.

I'm a Bronco fan. It's been a very tough year. We fire the Mastermind and hire Doogie Howser, who trades a young, probowl QB for the first time in history. Then trades a first round pick next year, for a second this year. And can't get along with our best player, Brandon Marshall. I thought the goal was to get good players?

I want to be positive, but we have a killer schedule and looks like it will be a long year.

I always thought Young going to Tampa after the USFL was his punishment for playing in the USFL:rolleyes:

    Speaking of the USFL...

For those that don't know, it may be coming back in 2010. Seriously.

    NewUSFL

Also, while a Packers fan, my favorite AFC team is the Pittsburgh Steelers - mainly because my brother was a Cowgirls fan, and, well, we know who won those Super Bowls.

      Michael,

What happens if the Steelers and Packers meet in the super bowl? Don't answer that. I already know where you stand!

Knowing I'm a die hard Bucs fan, the Bills are my favorite AFC team.
Only because they are the only NY team we have that actually plays in NY.

Run game made me want to puke. Ok Ben if you want to take the blame for all the sacks fine. But the lack of a run game is on the O-line.

I agree for the most part but, Willie Parker trips over blades of grass and Mendy is afraid to get hit. We need a runner with some heart. Man I miss the BUS!

The typical non-American football fan response.

If you ever actually played American football, you'd know that helmets and pads are used as much as weapons as they are for protection. It's because of helmets and pads that the collisions in Amercian football are what they are, more violent.

Hard to get a spleen ruptured by someone NOT wearing pads...And my team's backup QB Chris Simms missed two years due to a ruptured speen, but is back now. Originally, he kept playing and was a few minutes from death when they got him to the emergency room..Ain't that right Buc fans?

Don Merideth, also a QB played half a game with broken ribs a punctured lung..Wasn't it Hacksaw Reynolds that played the Superbowl with a broken leg? And some don't think these guys are tough?

The players of all collisions sports, such as rugby and American and Aussie deserve respect.

Ronnie Lott was told he needed surgery on his finger and would be out for a few weeks. He had them cut part of it off so he wouldn't miss any time.
Mike Webster ( Steelers center) played back in the 70's when they could still head slap offensive lineman. When he died the autopsy confirmed extensive brain damage from all the blows to his head.

There's a lot of Bronco fans that think Simms should be starting instead of Orton. Our new coach Doogie anointed Orton in the off-season, and Simms never really got to compete.

Simms looked pretty good in the little pre season playing time he had, before spraining an ankle.

From what I heard that would be a no
On the other hand the safety that blew the Dallas game kicked butt.

After the NYG/Bronco Superbowl game, Phil Simms wasn't one of my favorite players, either.

But as an announcer, he'd kind of grown on me.

Chris being best friends with Mike Shanahan's kid, Kyle, at Texas, made me feel better about the Simms family.

The regular season is what allows us Cowboys' fans to have a little fun.

After Game 16 we all say, "Yay - the Cowboys had a good enough record to get to the playoffs - when does baseball season start?"

I've been a Steelers fan since the late 60's. I know what you're saying. The lean years are where you separate the real fans from the fair weather fans.

Teddy we won one game in the first two years in the league and weren't much better for a few years after that. We are use to it
Considering we are a brand new team from the head coach to the kicker I thought we made a fair showing.
