Just making an observation

I'm just in here trying something out. Some guys in here say they type with two fingers so I am seeing what it is like to do that.
I don't think I could do this very often, whew. Well, thank god that typing is one skill I'm not too bad at. This would drive ANYONE to outsourcing.

Whoah. Now I know (typing normally now to save bottom lip structure) I am a moron in some areas of technology, but then I also JV and we are diversified, so my moron areas are always covered - but how the HELL do any of you work online if you can't type better than 2 fingers? Damned - you people even have to type with the lights on - and ya'd have to paint all the letters back on periodically, too....oh....well I guess you wouldn't, 'cause you'll never wear em off at that rate....but still..... How the hell do you people write ebooks and articles?

My purest empathy and understanding to the PLR scrapers in the forum.

I can now type as fast as I can speak - over 120 words pers minute using advanced technology.

    Dragon NaturallySpeaking

With proper set up and training it to recognize your voice you will have very few typing errors.

But of course I am affiliated, Sal. And you should never expect anything less of me than to promote the best and most profitable products that can be found.

      Full disclosure:

I am a Vertical Solution Partner of Nuance (the makers of Dragon Naturally Speaking), which requires annual sales of $100,000+ to maintain. However, all of my sales are made by my offline direct sales reps only. That link Dragon NaturallySpeaking is not an affiliate link, and I make no money whatsover by promoting it in this forum.

The only time I make any money in this forum is when someone buys my big 430 page ebook of Favorite Crock Pot Recipes displayed in my sig file. It's only $11.95. I highly recommend it. You might also consider ordering Dragon NaturallySpeaking now. It really is an impreesive piece of software, but don't just take my word for it. Fill out the contact form and a friendly sales rep will be more than happy to drop by or call to give you a free demonstration.

Pee Es: This response was made using Dragon NaturallySpeaking software.

I type pretty fast (with all 10 fingers) faster than most people talk, but I still 'peck' with 1-3 fingers on the numeric keypad or calculator which I like to use.

I learned to type numbers using the top row of regular keys just as well as the other keys, but it is not as much fun as the numeric keypad.

I agree typing with two fingers would drive me nuts and it is not a long ride.

What always amazed me was how women type with those artifical claws - err fingernails - like maybe they are an inch long - I would need to use a stick or something.

Wow Paul -- that does sound like one lot of Crock alright. But I do have to say your typing and spelling is exquisite so we sure can't blame you for wanting to share that astounding technology with us all here - especially after I just expounded upon the torture in which some of your fellow Warriors are agonizing.

Thank you, Paul. Sometimes it's almost hard to recognize the capitalist in you, I swear it.

Someday, Sal, I hope you will join us. You would make a very beautiful capitalist, and there is a whole lot of money to be made if you just put in the effort. You may come to actually enjoy the lifestyle that can be afforded by it.

Why Paul, I'm blushing. You say that just as if you were speaking to a Democratic Republican or a Libertarian or something. How coy of you to flirt like that! Being that capitalism has become passe, however....I'll have to...uh.....pass.

Um actually, what I really like to do takes few funds....but it's a good place from which to launch a few when necessary. Paper is just so foldable, and spindly, and mutilatible. The more physically substantial forms of issue are much more interesting in many ways. Besides - I am so prone to paper cuts. You know how it is.

          My Dear Sal,

I can tell you have never experienced the exhiliration of raw, fleshy capitalism in its most glamorous form. Capitalism is passe only to those who have missed the opportunities, much like a dormant libido or a co-dependency.

Although money isn't everything, the more physically substantial forms of issue are often bulky and more difficult to conduct transactions. My suggestion to you is to try using credit/ATM cards instead of the tenuous foldable, spindly, and mutilatible paper dollars or the back-breaking loads of precious metals and stones. This will greatly reduce the incidents of papercuts as you are so prone when handling hard currency. And you will stand tall among your comrades; unbent and unburdened by converting the weight of wealth into a plastic card.

There is just nothing like the thrill of carrying the full backing of your bank account in the form of a plastic card. You can hold in one hand the equivalent of 10's of thousands of dollars, without the risk of paper cuts or vertebrae compression, on a teeny weeny 3 x 5 plastic card. You, Sal, can hold in one hand the power to go wherever you want to go, to do whatever you want to do, and buy just about anything you wish to buy using the stored value contained within a plastic card. All this without having to schlep around "the more physically substantial forms of issue".

This is what you can have if you join us as a new, virgin capitalist. Using these principles of capitalism, we have brought opportunity to where there once was depression, new hope where there once was despair, wealth where there once was poverty, knowledge where there once was ignorance, boldness where there once was fear, freedom where there once was shackles, health where there once was illness, enlightenment where there once was darkness, and condos where there once was wilderness.

In your hands lies the potential for greatness. Money is not everything, of course, but the power of plastic (especially if you have a merchant account) - now that's priceless.

I learned how to type with all 10 fingers, and do try to practice sometimes (like right now).

But I am still faster when I type with two fingers. However, I can usually do pretty well with the lights off, even when using two fingers.

I do around 35wpm with two fingers, and about 25wpm with all 10. In high school (where I learned many moons ago) I was the fastest in my class. Perhaps it's time to invest some time into touch typing again.

About the same here...and that's even with backspacing to correct spelling mistakes...

Typing this reply with two fingers just to try it out... very painful.

I remember in college when the typewriters were just becoming self correct - but you had to have a little white tape in them. I had a curriculum that required about 100 pages of copy per week, typed, of course. It would take me longer to type the papers than to write them and I had to write them complete then transfer them to typing. To try to type and edit at the same time was disastrous. I saved up so I could have someone else type my dissertation. There were 10 pages at the end that was material that wasn't to be seen by anyone but the professor and that 10 pages kept me up all night after another all nighter for finals.......and that is how I ended up with scars around my left eye.......yep, story in there somewhere, LOL.

        LOL.

I'm not sure what I type at now but when I was 11-13 it was around 80-150 I believe (depending on school/summer, except one summer I got REALLY fast because my girlfriend dragged me and all of my friends into heavy IM-usage). Back then I used 2 fingers. Now I'm guessing it's somewhere between 90-120, and although I type "better," using all of my fingers ...wait...

I just realized I don't use all of my fingers or I just reverted back to what I used to do without noticing it. Typing is something I don't focus on so much, I honestly have no idea, but I do know that somewhere down the line I learned to type "properly enough" -- but not exactly, according to people that went to old fashioned typing classes.

edit: I also got off subject. Still typing 2 fingered, by the way...

I don't think it's necessarily slower, just depends on what you're used to. IMO "pecking" is faster if you learn to type that way, and correcting mistakes is easier as well (for me).
