You just can't have it all, can you?

To tell you the truth, I wasn't sure where to put this thread. Maybe, the Mind Warriors zone would have been the most appropriate one. Yet, sometimes I just get tired of the heat, and I feel comfortable in the Off Topic zone.

A few days ago, I had a lovely talk with my doctor, as always. He keeps warning me that I have to do something about my high blood pressure and my unhealthy eating habits. On the other side, I keep remind him about the work I do. Let's say that most of my clients don't ask me to blindly respect their time zones. However, my creativity is a night bird. My writing party begins at 2am or 3am, usually. What's a party with some quality pizza time? Right? The next thing you know, I'm welcoming the new dawn with both pages and my stomach full. Then, I have to sleep during the daytime to make it up for my painful sleep deprivation.

And, there are consequences. Now, I can't go on like this. That's perfectly clear to me. On the other hand, I haven't become a freelancer to live the boring 9-to-5 working routine. So, I would like to avoid a scenario when I'm writing my next thread from the hospital. That's definitely not an entertaining nor inspirational place for an overweight, but an adorable warrior, such as me. Except that I should go easy on pizza, is there any other word of magical wisdom, you're willing to share? What does it mean to have it all for you? Both money and health? Or some things have to be prioritized? Is there a warrior who has it all?

One thing to think about, if you do wind up working on your next thread from your hospital bed, is that you maybe you should examine how you are selling your writing.

You talked the other day about a book you wanted to sell. The book can keep selling while you are laid up in the hospital. Doing another paid article won't. Especially if you are sick as a dog and can't write.

At the rate you pump out articles, you could put out a bunch of ebooks and then focus on marketing them

So, you can get paid whether you have a new gig or not or even whether you are physically able to do the gig.

Part of having it all is working smart, focusing on high ROI possibilities, etc. so you have time to exercise, get a good night's sleep, play with your kids, take your wife on a weekly date night, etc.

    Mark

Edit: Besides ebooks, you could also sell PLR content perhaps so you would get paid multiple times for the same article.

You speak as if the flexibility of freelancing is a constraint that prevents you from healthy habits. Most people come up with tons of excuses for avoiding proper diet and exercise, but this is the first time I heard yours, (and you don't even mention the latter, which in itself is a telling sign of how much you're avoiding it). Instead of pizza, try 30 minutes of intense aerobic exercise during your creative periods, at least twice a day. (Bring a pad if you're concerned you'll forget an idea.) I'm pretty certain that your overall work productivity will increase, which in turn will provide the incentive to continue.

True, so true!! Reminds me that annoying, but also true saying, something like, you want a solution, you find a way, you don't wanna do it, you look for an excuse. Appreciated.

  • I figure life is like a graphic equalizer — you always know what ur gonna get, but you ain't got no clue about how to configure the darn thing properly.

So I got a slider here says HEALTH an' another says WEALTH an' another says STOOPID TV, all sittin' in a neat linea Scientological jump points I can crank up from zero to 11.

Natch, you wanna pump the HEALTH an' WEALTH high asya can but you mebbe also wanna do that with ALCOHOL an' PIZZA an' CROCODILE WRESTLIN' IN OZ — but whenya whack up those sliders, sum kinda auto preset knocks the HEALTH an' the WEALTH down to zero.

Seems the slidersa life's graphic equalizer won't letya catch 'em all, cos the wave-like line they draw fronta your CD truly represents a learnin' curve, an' I guess bestya can hope for ista trade up to a leaner model as your liver protests or sidewalks start crumblin' away beneath your behemoth footfall or killer reptiles depriveya ofya cock an' balls.

What is truly fatal is not experimentin' with the sliders — an' that includes readin' up on alumnia prior equalizerees otherwise you gonna forever hum on faint at the default settin', unawarea your own (ok, possibly frickin' stoopid) potential.

Like Steve Jobs said, "if you want to get anywhere with something you're passionate about, you have to find the control box and play around with all the knobs until either it doesn't break or it doesn't break better."

(Actually, that is jus' me makin' sh*t up but if Jobs hadda said that, it would stilla been true.)

Willing to share some of the night late pizza, I order regularly. But, only for lifestyle suggests. When it comes to the threads, support always finds them proper places and categories.

Maybe if you spent some time outside getting a bit of exercise instead of sitting on your butt indoors turning every single thought into a post your health would improve?

Heard that fresh air can significantly boost the flow of ideas, so in a way that can even worsen the current situation, lol.
