All zip folders in my computer turn to VLC Media Player

All the zip folders that I downloaded on my computer
has changed to a VLC Media Player. which I cannot extract
or open. All the zip folder is now showing like a VLC Cone.
I don't know what I did wrong. Also when I want to download a zip files now
it will come in the form of VLC Video Player cone instead of zip folder.
I will appreciate if anyone can help with this.

    If you use Windows, follow these steps:
    1 Open Windows Explorer
    2 Right click on a zip file
    3 Select "Opens with"
    4 Then select winzip or whatever other program you normally use to open zip files
    5 Close Explorer
    6 Reopen Explorer and your zip file icon should be that of winzip or whatever program you normally use.
    7 THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART: DON"T CHANGE IT AGAIN - EVER!

    If you use a Mac, follow these steps
    1 Ask someone who also uses a Mac on how the above processes work on that system.
    2 Do what they tell you to do.

        The steps to remedy the problem if you own one of these machines is simple.

        1 Take a ball pein hammer.
        2 Repeatedly smash the hammer into your head.

          It's because I have owned Macs for 33 years and have never heard of such a thing, that I thought it was funny. That someone might believe that because it happens on PC's that it might happen on a Mac, was funnier, still.
