Terry Dean Fake Account

This is Terry Dean, the one who owns MyMarketingCoach.com and several other domains (and been online since 1996).

I've haven't been on the Warrior Forum in quite a while.

One of my clients today mentioned how I gave a testimonial to someone I had never heard of before on the Warrior Forum.

I did a search because I wanted to see this testimonial and it appears someone has the name "TerryDean" is raving about a member's services.

There are others out there with the same name I'm sure (including a dance instructor and a football player), but what's interesting is the testimonial includes this phrase, "I am one of the oldest folks here on the forum. You can search out my name in the search engines to confirm I've been marketing online for nearly 16 years."

There doesn't seem like there will be a lot of Terry Dean's that applies to.

Interesting when you search the posts by that Terry Dean (View Profile: Terry Dean) that they're mostly raving recommendations for a person named either Louis Kennedy or Ken Louis.

So I'm just noting here that I've never given him a testimonial or recommended him.

    Why not go to his WSO and say you are the real Terry Dean. State you never recommended the product. Similar the ideas posed in this thread. Then say you are going to report him to the Moderators, if he does not pull the false review..

    It's not a very good hoax if it is one at all.

    6 posts in one week in 2015 (right after join date) - and one post last May...and the person hasn't logged into that acct since last May.

    Strange - especially the comment in the WSO you linked to.

    Ok, just an update here (apologies if this gets confusing - it's late here and there's too many Terrys).

    We've banned Terry Dean as that account is being used solely to spam promote WSOs, and the username is basically impersonation.

    The mods have just taken down the WSO as well, since that testimonial is clearly fake. As TheTerryDean mentioned, there's really not a lot of people that the testimonial could be talking about, and he's never offered that guy one. We also double checked that TheTerryDean is actually the real Terry Dean, and we're pretty confident. If you feel like sticking around Terry, we'd love to have you

    The Moderator account was actually created by staff here, so it's safe. We're currently collecting all the old and present mod accounts, as we discovered some of the old ones (e.g. admin) have a ton of unanswered PMs. We'll be pushing all their PMs into a big list, so that we can actually ensure that they get eyeballs on them. One of the guys thought it'd be good to add Moderator as well (plus I think he just wants a cool username). In any case, it's not some impending impersonator.

        The mods are sorting that out now. We don't really have any plans to post with that account though.

            I agree that it's not ideal, but at this point a ban wouldn't be effective either - we'd just see a similar WSO pop up from a brand new user in a day or so. The WSO forum has a whole host of issues, and it's on our agenda to get fixing them. We have our next two weeks planned out to focus on forum content, after that we should have some time to work on WSOs.

              You have an ideal opportunity here to show that you are going to clean up this forum.
              It's been the norm here to let people get away with this sort of thing
              because it's easier than doing something about it.
              Guess we should have known better than to expect any improvements.

                lgibbon is correct. That WSO is filled with lots of testimonials, many of them likely to be fake.

                If the owner of the WSO could use a fake Terry Dean account to leave such a testimonial and nothing more serious is done, beyond just banning the Terry Dean account, then that shows anyone can do similar and get away with it.

                Not banning the WSO owner's account and not deleting the wso itself shows the forum is encouraging such fraudulent behavior.

    I just wanted to pop in again and say thank you for removing the fake testimonial.

    I likely would have never even known about the fake testimonial being posted except for a direct client saw it and commented to me about it.

    So this is a thank you message to Tim. I appreciate the response and action.
