I was wondering if we can still look at the Warrior Forum classic look?

I very much like to see the sig files and the info on the people that reply in threads. I really like to see peoples post counts.

Is the Classic look still offered?

And how can I access it?

Thanks!

    Hi there!

You can switch to the Classic View by hovering your mouse pointer on your username. You can go through the same steps, if you'd like to switch back to Modern View.

Well wouldya look at that... In all my time messing around with responsive themes I've always wondered if there was a special name for that type of menu.

Maybe if I wasn't self employed, and had a room full of colleagues to turn to, I would have known the answer years ago.

And yes, finding out was worth the wait.

Just to confirm, you've switched it over to classic already? If so that would be a bug.

There's no plans to kill the classic look (I'm pretty sure you guys would kill us if we did ).

The point of this change is to put the content first in the main nav, rather than how it's viewed.

So far Tim, you've done what you said you were going to do at the start of the month, addressed and reduced the spam, took on navigation.

So, this is great progress. Having the option on the old view is easy enough.

The trending, fresh and top navs are new.

You can't and won't please everyone, and you've learned by now this place has its share of chronic whiners, complainers and trolls. They sort themselves out and get ignored over time.

We are most happy to see a mod/mgr who does what he says he is going to do.

For those who are stuck in 2007, how about more contribution and less whine?

        GordonJ

PS. I would still like to see a Guide or FAQ given out to all members which answers all their questions about how to use the WF, probably being worked on, eh?

Phew. I'm pleased there's a way to revert back to the old look.. much easier to use.

Also.. wondering, has the new layout caused this massive drop in traffic, or is something else responsible?

This nightmare was bought in very recently, so probably something else.

But yeah, if someone comes in here and gets that, then they might leave for good?

True that this is an experiment, but without a "PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR ORIGINAL VIEW" could cost WF some signups.

I have no doubts you will lose traffic out of navigation confusion.

Most confusing! Ok, but the worst experience l have had online was when l tried Windows 10, and made the mistake of reversing a restore point, with it going into blue screen, endless loop, getting data to repair nightmare.

But clicking on any of the text links above, for a full screen nightmare does not help.

They should at least make it so you have to click on Marketplace to get info on it, not, in the in your face format.

Why was the visible link to the classic view removed? My "view" was switched since yesterday though I hadn't logged out. You can call the feed the "modern view' but to me it looks hectic, hyped and rather childish - and I can't navigate it as quickly/efficiently.

Why do we bother to tell people to use the search - when it can't be found by people using this feed view? We tell folks to use the help desk - where is that again?

I think the feed view would be great for those using a phone - but it isn't the forum - it's a stripped down and hyped up version of the WF.

If the feed view is all I can use - see ya. If I have to constantly find a way to exist the feed view, same result.

The "Modern" version is NOT good at all. It is not user friendly. I tried to go to the last post of a thread that I have been following and ended up at the very first post of a 100+ post thread. Bad! And that is just one problem.

Just curious, what percent of users use/like the "modern" version and what percent use the "classic" version?

It seems to me that if you want to kill WF, just make everyone use the "modern" version.

    Please keep the "classic" version.

  • Forcing people into this view (the "feed" view) by default from which they have to figure out how to remove it is going to cause a lot of problems for people and cost people a lot of money, lost business, and lost information about what other people are into, plummeting incentive to use the forum dramatically. Why in the world would this be done instead of the other way around, i.e. making this view the one that is optional? This view is also EXTREMELY unpleasant and unappealing, which alone would plummet desire and motivation to use the forum.

Yes, this setup reminds me of Windows 10, some parts are transparent and some are ugly blocks of white.

And when that OS was released or impending release, we also had some who raved on about it.

Some to this day still do, (god knows how) but most hate it!

I just went to see my accountant, he also uses w10, since he has to because of MYOB, incompatibility issues.

But he also has XP on his main one, probably because old software, like Word 98, and drivers for a very reliable printer, will not run on w10. Well the printer did after hours of searching, worked immediately on XP.

Yep, small businesses hate it too.

But yeah, every time the pointer goes over the top text the tinted mess comes up, it is more like a software error than anything else.

    Not good.

Yep, l tried seeing to Off Topic in nightmare view, and yuck. It is like someone pasted all the thread headings onto a white sheet of paper.

I have a matt screen, so it wasn't too bad on my eyes, but normal screens.

Yep, modern will kill this forum off for good. And keeping the hair trigger full screen setup will make new members think twice about this forum?

And one person thinks that it is wonderful, and bags everyone else who hates it, lol.

Well, some people still think that Ishtar was a good movie, eventhough most hate it.

Warrior Forum is now charging for forum sigs and they don't even show up in the Feed... or maybe they do and I just can't find them.

I'm guessing guest browsing the site can't opt-out of the Feed so they'll never see a paid forum sig.

I'm not sure why anyone would buy a forum sig or forum banner image If the Feed is priority over the forum.

After Login, when the Classic view is clicked it doesn't redirect to any classic page, you have to click any other link on the current Feed page in order to actually go to a Classic view page (any page). That's two clicks just to get out of the Feed, assuming you know the secret handshake.

It seems that the software development department, after handpicking 10 people out of 10,000, who are ripped about Windows 10, took it one step further.

Put this forum into an endless loop if a tech, problem ensures, and it would be perfect!

It's not just the look that's different in modern view. In some threads, there seem to be fewer posts.

For example in this thread in the main forum: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...you-spend.html several posts that show up in the classic view don't appear in the modern view.

    I'm guessing that's an admin decision (?)

True, but some countries have no rules, or rules that favour some and not others.

Pretty hard to play by the rules, when someone can attack anyone he/she likes while someone else, who posts an image of a black cat gets clobbered!

Yea the new look is pretty terrible.

I know they were trying to the whole "reddit" upvote route, but the system is just confusing, ugly to look at, uninviting, and hard to navigate.

You guys should revert back to the classic theme as default while you work out a better version of the new theme. It's seriously bad.
