Mailing list service or CRM?
I'm looking for a system that will allow me to maintain a database of contacts gathered from an off-line business and send them broadcast emails and email newsletters. As well as the basic name/address/email type fields it will need some custom fields for the product they are interested in, where the inquiry came from, etc, the ability to update the contact if they subsequently buy something and of course, the option to unsubscribe.
Can I use a mailing service such as Aweber or GetResponse for this with custom fields and then segment the list or should I go for a basic CRM system?
Can anyone recommend or suggest a suitable solution? Because the contacts are not opting in themselves but would have to be manually entered into the system, double opt-in is not an option - any solution would have to be single opt-in.
I should add that this business is not US based and CANSPAM does not apply although it is completely legit and above board :-)
