This secretary who lives and works in Washington is now a king in Ghana! Here she is at the Embassy of Ghana.

And here's the Article. Peggielene Bartels: Secretary by Day, King of Otuam, Ghana, by Night - washingtonpost.com

Interesting article. It doesn't appear she really moved up in the world, though, if she still has (?) to work as a secretary (like many have (?) to still be teachers, etc.), and only took it because she "can't escape it - it's her's." I don't really know how she said that, but the impression I got from it was more negative than positive. (But its gotta be a great conversation starter - in Silver Springs, where she can still talk to people lol.)

"She intends to replace half of the 15 male elders with women."

Meh. I don't know the situation over there, maybe this is what's needed, but if she's just replacing them to replace, whether the woman actually does a better job than the man she's replacing or not, its taking one of our problems over there IMO. But the real question is, how can you halve the 15 male elders? It being an unfamiliar culture to me, I am a little worried. :p

Hmmmmmmmmm... I was reading this article very negatively. I'm happy for her if its what she really wants though

What a STUPID policy!!!!!!! So if there are two women, and a man, and the man dies, one of those women would be called the last male on earth!?!?!? IT DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY! I don't care WHO you are, etc.... And if the queen dies, and only men are available will a MAN be called queen!?!?!?

Historically, it has been logical. The primary monarch determines who he or she will marry, if anyone, and takes a FEMININE title if female, and a MASCULINE if male. Still, the primary monarch is often the one that controls policy, etc.... You don't see the queen of england calling herself king!
