Can I make this post without being banned?

Hello Warriors,

While I have an understanding that being banned, and talking about it is taboo, is this correct?...
(This post was made, so hopefully I don't get banned....!!)

I also have an understanding that talking about other forums on a forum is taboo... is that correct for this forum?

As in, can I discuss another forum here?

      Hello sir,

Well if I talk about it here... without knowing if I can be banned or not; I may in turn be banned.

Basically it will discuss being banned, how I got banned, stupid stuff I did in between to get myself banned, a few realizations and related.

      Does this help?

      Regards,

Generally speaking, the problem with talking about being banned comes from bitching about it and bashing whatever mod (by name or generically) it was that banned you. Or arguing the logic behind it.

There are really only three main reasons to discuss a ban. To ask why it happened, prove it was wrong, or to say what happened positive as a result of it.

      Two of those are okay.

        Hello Sir,

Well I actually have no clue who banned me, lol so that's not even possible and I actually have no complaints about it either, as it was my fault.

I have also been banned like 6? times... so it's quite hefty, and thought I'd make some sort of post about it to warn people, and show what I have learned throughout this time.

But I just dont want to get banned for doing that... as I am not keen on getting banned, respectively lol...

PAUL, can you tell me what people's beefs are with the use of sir?

Is it really that offensive? Or is it just offensive when I use it?

It has nothing to do with you. I don't let anyone call me sir in a serious manner, except very close friends, who usually know better. (Joking is different. That's okay.)

I don't personally care for it, except in circumstances where formality is appropriate and called for. I have no beef with it, though. It's a matter of courtesy, in most cases.

    Acrasial,

I can speak for MYSELF here. SOME people that call me SIR do so out of habit, perceived higher stature, or courtesy. That is OK with me, but makes me a bit uneasy.

USUALLY they call me sir to try to make me BELIEVE they respect me or are decent, or because they figure I will ignore some slight, or because they want to sell me something.

So MY name isn't SIR either. 8-(

Maybe others feel the same way.

You've been banned about 6 times!!!!!!!? That is hard to believe.

      Steve,

That was a 6 and a question mark.

And yeah, there's a lot of what you described in how I feel about the use of that word when it's not really called for. Other stuff can apply too, but those are very real issues.

Come on Acrasial - spill the beans!

And don't worry, I've been banned from here before too. If you want to be prominent here, or you want to take on the role of an information giver (while selling within the same niche of that information), you're going to run the risk of saying the wrong thing and being banned.

It doesn't matter if you meant to be devious or if it were an honest mistake. Rules are rules and if they are not enforced, nobody will respect them.

Another thing about this forum is that you are allowed a second (and sometimes third ) chance to prove you are not here to push the boundaries.

So let's hear your enlightening experience!

Are you talking about the 'gossip' factor of people wanting to know why someone was banned? Or something completely different regarding the OP?

My main thoughts were immediately of info/products that provided solutions to "Not Be Banned" from an online service provider, adsense, affiliate networks, forums, etc... products/info to explain how Not To Be Banned permanently from respected places that can have serious consequences on any online business.

This thread has opened my eyes a bit wider, and I see a need to "read between the hidden lines/unwritten rules"... or even give a short, straight to the point, cliffs notes version... that aren't clearly defined by those service providers.

Your 'Being A Better Member Moderator' thread is a great example for a "read between the lines" of the WarriorForum: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...moderator.html

            Jared,

The young lady has a tendency to indulge in a style of conversation that evokes a feeling of, "Hey! She's the kid from high school that always played the 'cutesy card.'" Doesn't work as well in an 'after school' environment. Especially considering the average age of the membership here. It's substantially older than DP, BHW, WebmasterWorld and the other forums in this market.

She's no dummy, but the lost kid thing gets old after a while. Makes it hard to remember she's smart and take her as seriously as she deserves.

I hate to tell you this ma'am, but the only serious developmental brain event you have to reasonably expect is at 30. That's when it's fully formed.

The rest is a choice. It doesn't just happen, barring some disastrous event, which we all hope won't be in anyone's future. Leave it to chance, and you'll end up like the 30-somethings at that "other" WF, who are pretty much indistinguishable from the 16-year olds.

Yes, people can be nosy as to why someone is banned- I think, however, it only would really be someone's business if they were doing business with that person and didn't receive the product... because of a ban.

Otherwise, yes, I would think that to be just a bit nosy as well.. lol. I am not sure that anyone cared to know why i was banned anyways, i just felt to make a post about getting banned and my experience with it...

I am wondering if posting about other forums is allowed in here, or is that taboo?

If it's not, I so have a few quotes and things... I am still shocked at one of these "other forums" in particular and at what lengths they go to trash this forum...

I am thinking that maybe that forum is a collective of people banned from this forum...lol?

It's even got Steven Waghenheim mentioned- they are literally obsessed with the guy ...loL!!!

Some dude also pulled up all my posts from here on the WF, thinking it was cool- i thought it was stalking LOL

      hahaha

I still appreciate the level of professionalism and respect maintained on this forum!! If anyone does not, I strongly suggest them then, to check out other forums...LOL

Maybe that's what admin should do when people are banned and complain about it- is just redirect them over to those forums...lol.

I have seen many forums discussed here, but it is usually someone asking for recommendations for popular forums on certain topics. For example tech help, where to sell sites, or how to find popular niche forums.

I recognise you for the post you made on article marketing that was very informative and the type of post that is appreciated here.

I haven't read your other post, but if you have been banned 37 times hopefully you have learned what not to do.

You say it was your fault so I think a post about what not to do could be useful as long as you are not blaming the other forums. Maybe you could stop some newbies from making the same mistakes.

As far as the original question, other forums are discussed here.
What is not allowed here from my experience is personal attacks and probably not naming other sites which you have problems with unless they are known scams.

haha, Joe I never felt offended! It just looks like it in my sentence, because the way I originally wrote "6????" with loads of question marks, when I copy that in a quote, it probably makes me look ticked...which isn't the case.

It may even be 7 times, not even sure... but I think if I were banned 67 times, that I should be taken out and shot!! But yes, I noticed that the mention of a forum by name in the PM's it becomes starred out; but maybe that is because the particular forum is literally garbage... and also insults other members from this forum etc... so then I could definitely understand.

No need to bring that garbage here then, right? But it just shocked me, and sure ads to my tale of being banned- because the garbage forums really opened my eyes as to how great this one is!

You can share your experience, and lessons learned.

However, if you have anything negative to say about any forums, do NOT mention their names. That could be in violation of Rule #1, and could get you banned, again.

But it is okay to tell us about the "dark side" if you speak in generalities.

Anyone who has been around for a while already knows which "other forum" you are talking about.

You've been told several times that you can talk about what you've learned and what not to do if you don't want to get banned. So are you planning on talking about it any time soon?

        Tina

I did post a post on it! LOL...long time ago... but I wont talk about other forums then. I just think this forum is the best, tis all.

I also hate being called SIR, which Jennifer or Jenny does. Why? Maybe something to do with GENDER.

Instead of starting a thread or post about can I talk about, why not follow the instructions of the forum, play by the rules and you should be safe.

But having different accounts won't help
