13,000 Posts...And I Had No Idea

I just noticed that I had just passed 13,000 posts and didn't even know I was
that close.

Normally, I'd prepare some kind of inspirational post to celebrate the
milestone.

But age, and a little bit of wisdom, has made me realize that in the grand
scheme of things, it doesn't really matter.

What DOES matter?

Being the kind of person that other people want to know.

As the doctors always say, doing no harm.

Trying to make a difference, no matter how small, in someone else's life.

Being honest.

Providing value as a businessman and product creator.

Going to your grave knowing that you did the best you could.

Everything else is just glitz.

Sure, it's nice to get awards and recognition and have people pat you on
the back once in a while, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not
important.

As long as you know that you did your best, that's all that matters.

So 13,000 posts have come and gone. How nice.

But did I do those things that I listed above?

Am I doing them?

Will I continue to do them?

If not, a million posts won't mean a darn thing.

Many a poor excuse for a human being has had a lot to say.

I don't want to be one of them.

Happy milestone, none the less, Stephen.

I am down with any excuse for a celebration.

You are not getting any post count here in the OT so maybe that shows to go ya that you are not posting to get points! LOL.

I think if you are honest with yourself you are achieving a lot of your goals and whatever - as they say 'it is the thought that counts'. You have good intentions.

I would say keep on keeping on.

There was a long time where Seasoned Steve was Number Uno in Post count and I was going back and forth with Willie Crawford between 2 and 3. Then Kay King got up there in #2 spot when Steve disappeared for a while.

Then the Wags just overtook everybody! I don't even look anymore at the list - Being 9/10 of my posts are here in the OT.

Love is where you find it and I find it here in the basement. Go figure.

I don't post as much in main discussion anymore either but I do try to
help people there when I can. Some folks do have serious questions and
problems that I feel qualified to help with so when that situation arises,
      I try to help.

But for the most part, this is pretty much my new home.

And yes, I have found a lot of love and friends here...some quite
      unexpected.

I do suck at golf (can't even break 100) so what's your point?

My point is that it's pretty obvious I will never exceed your numbers in golf nor on the forum.

But seriously, few have given more of themselves so generously as you have.
          Thank you.

Wow Steve - 13,000 and not once accused of being a one line wonder.

Next product? How to type 13,000 substantial posts in less than two years without joint pain or carpal tunnel.

Keep it rolling. Keep being who you can smile at in the mirror and think about as having a great, full life.

And then pay attention when you start closing in on 14,000.

Steven, I can't speak for the world, but you've definitely made a difference in my life... and if the opportunity arose, I'd jump at the chance to just hang out and play guitar with you. Not pick your brain or get your advice or talk shop, but just hang out.

Maybe that helps answer your question.

You know I was one of the first here to say "give the guy a chance" - and I've slapped you down on occasion, too. Usually the problems started when you posted an "inspirational message" - it's true progress when you reach a milestone and DON'T do that.

        Good on you!

Well, it's not a Strat, but at least it's not a Les Paul.

Not a guitar at all. It's an electrical piano.

Guitars belong more to the domain of my son. I think he owns one Fender Stratocaster and one Schecter.

I'm a piano and trombone man.

The Eighty-Eight kind of gave that away... I guess my joke was a little too subtle.
