Hey gang, Do you work from a desk, or a laptop? I built a nice home office but started feeling confined getting stuck in there all day so I invested in this: Laptop Desk Now I have the option to setup office in the Lazy Boy with my laptop, next to a coffee table and I have a relaxing day at "the office" ![]() Scot P.S. This is a bit challenging when school is out during the summer but it's still nice to be around the family a bit more |

I use a laptop with a lap desk. I sit in a comfy chair and have easy access to what I need. It's set up in an extra room, so interruptions are few. And when the doors are closed, it is very quiet. I don't think I could ever go back to being tied down to a desktop. All the best, Michael |

I use a laptop but usually work away from home using mobile broadband. I usually use a cafe or restaurant, or just use a bench and table in a park or even in my car.

I travel full time so there's no way a desktop would work for me. I have a netbook and it's perfect for me. It can get a little sluggish when I have a lot going on (only 1 G of RAM) but at only 2 lbs I'll take the loss of speed in exchange for the smaller size.

lol ... I bought a laptop for the portability ... but I seldom use it anywhere but on my desk! I find that I can stay focused better by sitting here in my office with few other distractions. If I take my notebook anywhere else in the house, I get distracted by family, by television, by stuff outside the window... However, the benefit is still portability: when I travel, my whole office comes with me inside my computer! How can you beat that? GT |

I utilize both. I bring my laptop to work and do some reading and writing during down time, and I use it for when I travel which is mostly for non-business travel. (Was Very nice to have a laptop with me on my trip to China) At home, I stick to the desktop so I remain in the office area as to not be disturbed as easily by the TV, and by a girlfriend who doesn't see the significance in the time I spend on my projects. |

both. my desktop is for things like building websites. it has a bigger screen, all my graphics programs, my ftp stuff..etc. The desktop also has a 1tb external drive hooked to it and is used by the laptop as a server as well. The laptop is more for checking the pages, seo stuff..etc. |

Interesting topic, Like everyone, we stated with a PC, and if like most, we have had a few, at least I have, but for the past year I have used nothing but a laptop since closing my traditional office, then home office, to sitting on couch for past 8 years working from my laptop, so I couldn't even imagine a reason to go back to a PC? I have had three laptops, and my most recent is a super compact lightweight Dell and a Gateway now that my daughter needs computer for school, so given they take less space, use less power, are portable when I travel, more convenient and once you get use to keyboard, I could not even imagine using PC with mouse any longer. lol Like everything, it is all about what you are comfortable with, and when I am sitting on my couch scanning all my emails and managing my online business interests, I sometimes say, why did I ever bother setting up a home office sitting at a desk? Laptops are so much less expensive now, and although my old Dell was heavy, it was a great personal heater in winter. lol Success to all, |

I use laptop for portability since I cant work on the same place all the time..need to move around when I feel quite boring with the surrounding. But it's up to you.. you can use both if you have enough budget..desktop works well to run high speed and heavy application. |

I use a laptop and take it with me everywhere! That way if I'm traveling and decide to have lunch at Panera or someplace with wireless, I can just hop on and check my e-mail and stuff. I keep all my important stuff on a few flash drives which I carry either in my purse or my pockets, so if I ever "lose" my laptop, at least I'll still have my data.

I have both but use my desktop exclusively. The laptop is for emergencies but Thank God haven't had one. I got all this junk, network adapter etc to set it up so I could access my destop remotely using my laptop - however it was all for naught. Turns out the desk top has to be online which means there would be no emergency. For those that never use their laptop be sure to turn it on weekly and get all the Windows, security updates, etc. so that you are not sitting there for hours waiting in the middle of needing to do something on the fly. |

Laptop is the best, atleast it gives me liberty to move.. but I am thinking about what could be the possible problems we'll get in future because it doesnt bound me to obey any principle of its usage.

I also work with a laptop because of portability and convenience. You can bring it anywhere and be able to work as long as you have a trusty Internet connection/ Wifi. The lap desk is also pretty cool.

Can your laptop do this? I mainly use my desktop so that I can have multiple monitors. I also have a laptop for when I travel, but I feel like I'm working in a broom closet when I use it. I love my mulitple monitors and will not go back to a single monitor. |

I like old style decor; my office looks like something from the 1920s. I have a big, (200 pound) solid oak desk. I got it when an insurance company went out of business a few years back, apparently they'd had it for like 40 years. Anyways, What you need is a laptop AND a dock. I have 5 monitors, external hardrives, a keyboard and mouse, all plugged into a dock. When I want to go mobile, I push the release button and my laptop disconnects. When I want to sit back down at the desk, I just pop it in place and my entire systems up and running without plugging in a single cable. The best of both worlds. -Jordan |

The laptop is surely the best option if you are going to have only one computer. In my office I have a nice 22" monitor and a good wireless keyboard. When I plug the laptop into the monitor I then end up with 2 screens and a giant workspace. This essentially gives you the best of all possible options. Total mobility and the luxury of 2 monitors. I swear you will never want to use anythng else.

Hey, all: I am now a confirmed laptop (notebook) fan! Speed? I have NO issues with speed on my notebook ... except with websites that can't keep up to my computer. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the ONLY way my HP Pavilion could be any faster would be if it started telling me things BEFORE they happen, or doing things before I even knew I was planning on doing them! lol I've been using this notebook for more than two years now and because it's been so dependable, and so easily portable, I can't imagine ever going back to a desktop-dinosaur. I have to admit, I'm spoiled. I have taken some of the money from IM and invested into some tools for me. I have a killer Mac desktop with three 27' monitors I would not trade for anything. If you run Photoshop or Dreamweaver, good luck with a laptop. They will simply not run as they should without massive RAM. (I have 32 gigs). 4 Terras hard disk. No it's not stock. I also use a MacBook pro for times when I travel, which is a lot. I can keep up with everything, but do not do really serious stuff which is ok, because I travel to enjoy, not work. That is the beauty of passive income, it requires little tweeks, but nothing major. |

Hi Guys, New here today but I use a laptop mainly because after I bought this laptop my desktop blew its power and was not worth replacing. I am usually at my desk though but occassionally use it in other parts of the house. Sharon |
