Hello: It looked exciting. It did look like fun but it was also kinda scary and very dangerous at the same time. I hope he was ok. You know some people enjoy going to the extreme and I think this was one of those times.

This was actually on one of those tv shows about surviving the unexpected.
In the interview after they showed the film the man said he was very thankful and lucky to be alive.

Why didn't he just let go of the handle before he got too high in the air?

I'd say he's a very lucky man after being taken that far into the air. He could've come down a lot harder (like a downdraft pushing the kite down = no lift at all = freefall back to earth) and he could've made a bullseye on the rocks.

Now THAT would leave a mark. (Along with some serious internal injuries.)

Not a smart thing to do, hanging on like that.

He doesn't even let go as he is going up up up, and as he started to go up, he should have just let go, but he probably didn't want to lose the equipment (the parachute thing), thus he held on to it.

People are strange sometimes, hold on to the wrong things, and endanger their lives. The other guy in the background as well going "wooooo---oooooo"...LOL...wow, he's excited that his friend is endangered!?
