How crazy is this!
I just found out Polaroid will relaunch their instant cameras. POLAPREMIUM - :: Breaking News :: Just goes to show you that, even in this digital age, enough people want the retro camera to come back. Sometimes you have to take a step back from the high-tech world and just shake it like a Polaroid picture. |

HeHe....You know, that just might work. The young people who have never seen such a thing may really get excited about it. On the other hand, the last time these things were popular there was no digital competition. It will be interesting to see how it's accepted.

Well, digital CAN only go so far, but I doubt polaroid cameras would sell if people thought price wasn't a consideration. Of course, digital cameras haven't really come down much. For the most part they give you MORE, rather than charge less. There ARE companies selling digital cameras for FAR less but they tend to be SLOW and, without stabilizing circuitry, are all but worthless.
So optical is better, but digital is cheaper in the long run, and more flexible. BTW I would HARDLY call them RETRO. If they DO come out with polaroids again, it will probably be the NEW type. They had a good electronic flash, and autodeveloping/setting. They ALSO included what was considered one of the best batteries, for it's day. Personally, I think THAT was a WASTE! Maybe they willl come up with a two piece system. Then again, last I knew, HP laser printers had the SAME problem! With polaroids, the battery was on each slide, creating extra waste, and the battery had PLENTY of power left to boot. With HP, the photo drum came with the toner and ALSO had plenty of use left.
