Hi

I am very new to Internet marketing

I am starting a website soon selling physical goods.

Can you guys/gals please direct me to posts that would be helpful in marketing my website

I am confused coz there are posts on article marketing,affiliate programs,etc.etc. and I am not able to sort out what would be useful for me(i.e. selling physical goods)

I am a war room member so please direct me to any useful posts(useful for my case) in there as well

Please help a newbie out

Ok...you're selling digital products online, right?

You will need targetted traffic to your site.

Do you want to pay for the traffic? (faster but expensive)

Or...

Do you want "free" traffic? (slower, not really "Free" since you'll need time to promote and write articles).

Answer these questions and we'll be a step closer towards guiding you in the right direction.

I don't mind spending a little but free is always good

I will be selling mostly electronic goods

Honestly, I think your very best bet is to read, read, read and then read some more.

If you're new to IM, the very first thing to do is get some knowledge under your belt. Then you can make some educated decisions about which traffic generation method to pursue.

Try using the search function located in the red bar at the top of the forum. Try using some of these keywords to get your research rolling:

• article marketing
• backlinks
• forum posting
• organic SEO traffic
• PPC (or pay per click)
• PPV (or pay per view)
• banner ads

Now this is just a general list of a few free and paid traffic generation related terms. As you read, you'll notice many other subjects to research. That's exactly the way to begin. Just get a feel for what's available to you and how it works.

Oh, as you're reading, it's a good idea to have another tab or browser window open so you can do a quick google of any terms that are unfamiliar to you. This will help you stay on track and not get distracted by unfamiliar terms.

Once you have some idea of where you'd like to start, just do it. Accept the fact that you may not make the perfect first choice. Once you put a plan into action, you'll learn a ton about what does or doesn't work for your particular market.

P.S. One area I DON'T recommend just jumping in willy-nilly is PPC. You can lose your shirt pretty darn quickly if you're not careful. Start off with free traffic generation until you get more comfortable and start making some money. Then move on to paid.

I understand that I have to read a lot and get more knowledge

but as I said I am confused where to start

and I created this thread so that I get pointer so that I do not waste time reading stuff that is not useful for my site promotion.

from another post I understand that the best bet for me to start is with google adwords(PPC) to get paid traffic for a start

Starting with PPC is the fastest way to go broke if you don't know what you are doing.

PPC is generally a good 'next step' after you have the fundimentals down. Doing it first is an expensive education. Here's a hint...it costs a lot of money. A lot.

MizzCindy gave you some good ones to research.

organic SEO traffic

These four are good to learn as a basis for getting free traffic. Free being that you trade your time for traffic instead of trading your money for traffic.

If those don't consume a lot of your time in the next few days/weeks/months than you're not studying hard enough.
