blanket that is...

Here's a great Christmas gift idea that won't set you back a dime, even the shipping is free.

FREE Snuggie Blanket

I signed up about ten days ago.

I did use a throw away email address and my Google Voice phone number so I can screen any calls just in case, but so far no hassles.

I also did not opt to signup for either the newsletter or the SMS service.

I'll let you know when/if it shows up.

Can't imagine how they can do this and even pay for shipping. What is the point?

Brings to mind long ago when I got a ruby off TV - real long ago and can't remember if it was a bonus, free or I paid something. All I can remember is it indeed was a ruby, but you needed a tweezer to pick it up - it was more of a ruby flake or chip.

    Live and learn.

Will look forward to seeing how this turns out, I hope it's not a swatch or something! lol

From what I can tell, this site promos all the "As Seen On TV" stuff and I would imagine, would email or sms text you when new deals come out.

One would think that you could probably pick up those Snuggies for a few bucks each in bulk. I'm thinking it's a loss leader for them.

Gary Halbert used to send out salesletter with small emeralds
in them. The envelope would tell you there is an emerald inside -
which gets a lot of people to open the letter and look at it.

The little emeralds are pretty darn cheap, apparently.

I looked at the offer and it's probably legit - but not a
targeted demographic lead really, though they are gonna
get your mailing address, email, phone number - so my
reckoning is they are going to use the phone in some
way to attempt an upsell - cheaper than the mail really.

I anticipated respondents will get a call verifying their
addresses and color preference - then a series of
upsells for more Snuggies and other assorted mass-market
    stuff.

More than likely there is an upsell or two.
It says right in the sign up that you will be called to answer a survey:

Please ensure that you enter a valid phone number. You will be contacted via phone by one
of our representatives to conduct a brief survey.
    Learn more.

Ah Scot, no call yet because it says you will get the call after you get the product!
But honestly, how many of you really will use a bathrobe you put on backwards?

LOL Scott that is what I figured 'the loss leader' - 'can I even give it away'...

...Ya know this brings to mind a pet rant if you all don't mind

It really comes from aggravation with people saying everything on the internet is a scam.

I always retort 'I have been ripped off 100x more by TV and on the phone - it's almost a given and I don't understand why I continue to gamble with this every so often.

Case in point here is the most recent deal from 'TeleBrands':

For dry cracked skin - concoction is only $10

    - get a second one absolutely free when you buy 1*
    - get a free manicure kit
    - shipping is $6.99

    * but then in very small print in fact not even seen until the order confirmation, "just pay additional $6.99 shipping for the free bottle)

OK so my big $10 gamble - total cost $26 -

Here is the real beef - if $6.99 ships 1 and a heavy manicure kit, how come just 1 bottle alone is also $6.99?

OK that is on TV and then I ordered online to avoid the phone part where

    (a) for touchtone - last time a company sent me 3 times what I ordered which was 1, and specifically declined additional -

    (b) for live call - telemarketer will read you a long list of crap and no matter how many times you say 'no thanks', they will keep talking and maybe keep changing what the offer is. (in either case I would normally slam the phone down but you can't in this case because your order is not complete).

Now we will see if the junk even works. That will be another rant if it doesn't.

snake oil anyone? 2 fer !

    Patrician,
you probably already know this, but the snake salemen have less regulations on the "shipping and handling charges" than they do on their actual products, so you are paying $6.99 for shipping that they are probably paying less than a buck for, so then even when you decide you want a refund ( you know,we refund the full price minus shipping and handling) they are still making about 6 bucks orr each sale, even if its returned! And if someone falls for the 2nd bottle free, just pay the shipping and handling, then they have doubled their profit.

Right Kim - except you don't 'fall for the the 2nd one free' - it is automatically included - no choice - as is the useless manicure kit -

but i sure want to try the dry skin cream - and no it is not snake oil - that is extra. eeeeeee

        Funny video.

I remember the original "snuggie" from 20 years ago for crying out loud.

Someone (probably someone I didn't like) gave me one for Christmas. Oh, wow...I was thrilled. I did live in a colder climate then so maybe they meant well.

I can't tell from the commercials but the only difference in the new ones seems to be sleeves added - the old ones just had slits where you could stick your arms out when you needed to. Of course your arms got cold - you had turned down the heat so you wouldn't sweat in your snuggie!

Big downside - they were made like a baby's sleeper with the bottom sewn up tight. Walking in them was impossible. Come to think of it I don't see people in the commercials walking either - think they still make those like like a "bag"?

Scott - you gotta report back when you get the thing. Better yet, show us a picture and model it for us

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

I'll let you know if/when it arrives but trust me, it's not for me. It's for a Christmas gift for someone, have not decided who yet

I'm the type of guy who rarely gets cold so you'll probably never see me wrapped up in a blanket, let alone a backwards robe

Well as the video says, he will look like a "tool" so I hope it's someone you really despise?! LOL... ok but seriously, just don't tell the person it's free.
