"Article spinning" in the world of music

A good example of people copying and applying some changes to someone elses original work in the world of music is what has happened to one of ALexander Borodin's Polovtsian Dances from the opera Prince Igor (from around 1870).

You should think a great composer like that was a full-time musician. That was not the case.

Here's a small quote I found in an essay about him;

Borodin is world renowned for his achievements in classical music, particularly his opera, Prince Igor. What the majority of people do not know is that he was predominantly a highly skilled organic chemist, whilst his composing was only a part-time hobby which he had largely taught himself.
As you'll se in the following video, in 1953 the musical Kismet contained the tune Stranger in Paradise which was credited to Robert Wright and George Forrest. All the music in the show was in fact based on music composed by Borodin.

In 1954, Borodin was posthumously awarded a Tony Award for this show.

Strangers in Paradise might be a good theme song for struggling IM newbies. The lyrics start with;

"Take my hand. I'm a stranger in paradise."

Here follows a video with quite a different approach.
By the way, the female vocalist is from Norway.

Beautiful tune. Enjoy!
