As we see playing musical instruments as a form of mindful escapism, a way to create space between an individual and their busy mind.Music is beneficial to your overall well-being and mental health in other ways, too, including helping you develop a greater sense of personal achievement.
what's your opinion ?

Any learning of a new skill or having an absorbing hobby is generally good for your sense of personal achievement and mental health. If it becomes an obsession though your ability to socialize and interact could suffer.

First, any creative activity is not always an escape. This is a great way to reflect on your inner state and the ability to direct these feelings into creativity. It is always self-caring therapy.

The brain is compartmentalized. And musical talent is separate from just about every other function.

That's why there are deeply autistic musical savants. That's why people who have lost their memories can still play instruments. Alzheimer patients can often still play their instruments and read music. it's just using a different part of the brain.

As far as helping you sense of well being? I don't know. But I'm assuming it would give you pleasure, or you wouldn't keep at it.

Living with others may become difficult.

I tend to immerse myself in Zelda, since it has a large landscape, and with a 5km limit, (now 25km, but still) need something like this.

I have also taken on a giant online project, that is satisfying, although traffic is full of trapdoors, as are other things.

    Hi,
If you want to keep your brain engaged throughout the ageing process, listening to or playing music is a great tool. It provides a total brain workout.

will a hang/hand drum put you in a more relaxed state while playing and sooth your mental state .. than say playing an electric guitar or a big set of drums ..

so maybe a piano played by someone who knows how to play it or a violin

like there might be some benifit to drinking a couple glasses of wine slowly and relaxing afterward.. where ..a few shot of vodka ..or whiskey ..not so much ..

Ywah, I think everything, that is creative, is good for your mental health. It does not matter if it is playing an instrument, writing, reading or painting.

I've always played music to CONNECT with my mind and my emotions - and to create space between myself and other people...to take me away from other people. Music has always been my therapy.

My two sons (now grown) tell me as children they knew whether I was 'approachable' or not by the selection of music I was playing. I didn't realize it at the time but looking back I realize that's true.

Tune guitar to open D and move finger or slide left to right and bash strings with pick until it sounds like music.

    Hi there,
Playing music does have a beneficial effect on one's mental health. But it can't prove fruitful every time if one is not happy from within. Sharing is caring. You should be an extrovert and spend time with fellow friends, it will give you relief. There are a lot of activities that give mental recreation: reading an interesting book, watching a favorite or funny movie, visiting a spa, dancing, light exercise, planting, etc.
We should opt for these activities for maintaining mental health.
    Hope it will be helpful.

we have another aspect of music listing as well . listening to sad music at a high amount, has a negative effect on your thinking . The obvious notion that "happy music makes you happy and sad music makes you sad" can contribute to the fast decrease and increase of emotional stability.

Yup. Yup Yup. As a psychologist I totally approve using music as a therapy escape. It deeply affects your neurons and therefore whole neural system and therefore your emotions.

Review of Princess Balestra's new album: " The Song Alive In Your Heart"

Since the Princesses first album: "The Language of Moi 4fathers", great anticipation from fans and critics alike was building as to what she would do next. Indeed, on release day, her second album went double rusty in 4 hours. Early feedback appears to bear out that the songwriting, backing tracks, lyrics and singing, resembling a Poodle in pain were well on track to achieving and maintaining the low standards of her debut release.

Balestra had again assembled an impressive lineup of non musicians. These include "Whatty" on comb and toilet paper, Dan Riffle on Tinkerbells, Claude Whitacre on himself and Lanfear63 on Mandelalin.

Hardcore fans will be pleased here as Balestra has put together another impressive array of totally uncommercial, uninteresting and musically planet zero tracks.

Rolling Stone called it: "An outstanding example of Mediocrity"

Depends on the instrument. It's pretty hard to screw up piano even for beginners.

I mean it won't be good, but "Mary have a little lamb" will sound like "Mary have a little lamb"

I feel like the answer to your question is subjective to certain types of people, but honestly, playing guitar and just music in general helps a lot with my depression, it usually doesn't have a long term effect, but it helps clear my mind for the time being, if you find yourself unable to play from how depressed you feel at certain times, just try listening to something or play something easier/slower(not that those two are always the same thing)but needless to say, I'd reccomend it 100%
