I see a red vertical line in my Dell 22" Monitor for the past few days. This is my first Dell purchase and have no idea how to get it resolved with the company. I sent email to the person who handled my purchase and he is not responding. Just want to know what are my rights as a customer w.r.t. Dell company. I am sure many of you own Dell computers. Thanks |

Did you try to remove and reattach the video cable? Or check you don't have a whole family of dust bunnies in the PC case? Remove and reattach the video card? gl |

I'm sure you have some rights. How long have you owned the monitor? There should be some warranty period. I checked around. Seems vertical lines on monitors are fairly common. Yes, as John indicated, it could be related to the video card or cabling. I also read an unusual problem with RAM overheating. But seems that's kinda rare. I saw a thread on Digg about problems with Dell monitors and colored vertical lines. The thread/post was from '06, and it sounded like Dell was being unresponsive. If it's time to upgrade, perhaps get a non-Dell monitor. |

The monitor is just 2 weeks old. I tried connecting a different PC and the problem persists. I am gonna ask Dell for a replacement first thing tomorrow morning.

I found this on Dell's site for you. Click on the "Horizontal or Vertical Lines on Monitor Decision Tree" Wizard ID: 110569 Dell - Support enter your monitor model and see if that helps any. |
