It takes a lot more than a simple audio book to learn Japanese, and they're
not free, legally. Look into Pimsleur or Rosetta Stone. They may have free
sample lessons. Apply some thought, you may come up with a torrent of
ideas.

Why not just go to the library? Find a book on learning Japanese with matching cassettes of speech. Try listening and writing what you hear in Japanese characters. Language exchange can also be remarkably effective, as well, eg speak for an hour in Japanese with someone from Japan, then an hour in your language. Why do you want to learn Japanese?

(Something like that was part of my strategy for learning Chinese. I imagine it would work for learning Japanese.)
