In any aspect of life there are always pros and cons, with "con" being the opposite of "pro", so...

doesn't that make Congress the opposite of Progress?

(if replying, don't forget the "non-political" rules of this forum).

Actually, in any aspect of life there are proindicators and contraindicators, with "pro" being the opposite of "contra." The latter comes from the Old Latin com tera, meaning "with comparison." The word "con" simply means "with."

Congress comes from the past participle of the word congredi, from con (with) and gredi (step or walk) - those who have walked together.

But WHO has congress walked with?!?!?!? With special funds, offices, government ties, business ties, publicity, social security, insurance, it is certainly NOT with citizens! If it is with foreigners, they are SPIES and, by their own rules, should be SHOT, or put in jail for DECADES! If it is with themselves, they are a gang and a cabal!

Frankly, the idea of them walking together with may be more to the point, but it just shows how bad they are. In MA, a number of senators voted to raise tax, and then they used GOVERNMENT vehicles with GOVERNMENT fuel to go to new hampshire to avoid the new tax!!!!! And one of them had the NERVE to tell a person asking them about it to "mind your own business". Let's see. THEY paid for some of the fuel. THEY paid for some of the car. THEY paid for some of that jerks INCOME. THEY were required to pay more tax. It WAS their business!!!!!!!

What does the number have to do with anything? My point is that it is basically a cabal that has NO real ties to American society. Most are in government of one sort or another for almost all of their "adult" lives!

Look at byrd, born 1917 Senator since 1959! So he has been a senator for about 42 years!

WOW, he DOES vary from some: He worked as a gas-station attendant, grocery-store clerk, shipyard welder during World War II, and butcher, before he won a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1946. STILL, by the time he was 29, he was in office to stay. He is now on the news for having been there the longest. A LOT go into some political arena, are lawyers, union members, or similar, and just go straight to government, and stay there. Once there, they are isolated in so many ways, and not affected by many of the rules they pass.

And he probably speaks a lot against the KKK, and his party does, but he seemed to love them for the 9 years or so that he was a dues paying member!

I was just stating the fact that at the present time, there are no Prongos in the Congo. Nothing more. Plain and simple. I have no political agenda and make no moral judgement. Just the facts. But if you want to read more into that, and turn this thread into something to match your own hidden agenda, then knock yourself out. But I will have no part of it. Actually all the research I did for my post came from prongo.com. They are located in Illinois, not in the Congo. Many people mistakenly believe they are based in the jungles of the Congo and that there really are predatory prongos who are plotting global domination and threatening our way of life. If you can procure evidence that a bongo mimics a prongo I will concur with your professed fancy with confessed astonishment.
