In any aspect of life there are always pros and cons, with "con" being the opposite of "pro", so... doesn't that make Congress the opposite of Progress? ![]() (if replying, don't forget the "non-political" rules of this forum). |

Actually, in any aspect of life there are proindicators and contraindicators, with "pro" being the opposite of "contra." The latter comes from the Old Latin com tera, meaning "with comparison." The word "con" simply means "with." Congress comes from the past participle of the word congredi, from con (with) and gredi (step or walk) - those who have walked together. |

Frankly, the idea of them walking together with may be more to the point, but it just shows how bad they are. In MA, a number of senators voted to raise tax, and then they used GOVERNMENT vehicles with GOVERNMENT fuel to go to new hampshire to avoid the new tax!!!!! And one of them had the NERVE to tell a person asking them about it to "mind your own business". Let's see. THEY paid for some of the fuel. THEY paid for some of the car. THEY paid for some of that jerks INCOME. THEY were required to pay more tax. It WAS their business!!!!!!! Steve

Congress is exactly the opposite of Progress. You can't get any progress with congress.

Look at byrd, born 1917 Senator since 1959! So he has been a senator for about 42 years! WOW, he DOES vary from some: He worked as a gas-station attendant, grocery-store clerk, shipyard welder during World War II, and butcher, before he won a seat in the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1946. STILL, by the time he was 29, he was in office to stay. He is now on the news for having been there the longest. A LOT go into some political arena, are lawyers, union members, or similar, and just go straight to government, and stay there. Once there, they are isolated in so many ways, and not affected by many of the rules they pass. And he probably speaks a lot against the KKK, and his party does, but he seemed to love them for the 9 years or so that he was a dues paying member! Robert Byrd - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Of course, I am not advocating the KKK. I never even sought them out, and didn't know they paid dues, so obviously I am not and never have been a member! Steve

| I was just stating the fact that at the present time, there are no Prongos in the Congo. Nothing more. Plain and simple. I have no political agenda and make no moral judgement. Just the facts. But if you want to read more into that, and turn this thread into something to match your own hidden agenda, then knock yourself out. But I will have no part of it. I refuse to participate in such nonsense. All I said was that as of this moment, there is no evidence of the Congo having any Prongos. In fact, no one has even seen a prongo anywhere. What is it going to take for you people to realize that prongos are non-existent? Prongos are a figment of your imagination, spread by conspiracy theory nutcases that prongos are trying to take over the world. That doesn't mean, however, that there never will be prongos or that prongos may be here in the future to upset the politico-economico stability of the region and cause a population explosion resulting in starvation and untold suffering to millions with massive migrations and illegal immigrants overburdening the health care system requiring a bailout from the IMF and intervention of the military to topple oppressive regimes and the takeover of greedy international corporations who prey on the poor while the rich get richer and global warming continues unabated causing extreme climate change and food shortages rampages across once fertile fields while unwanted pregnancies rise like the floodwaters which wipe out villages left standing after the earthquakes destroyed what was left from all of the rioting and looting in the streets paved with worthless dollars and more of the dead and dying surrounded by crying orphans broadcast on TV for donations to feed the heartless and greedy media. Such progress does requires an act of congress. And if there ever is a prongo, most likely it will not be in the Congo, but in the House. Perhaps someone like Pelosi.

Looking at the actual definitions from several sources, it gets funnier... congress 1. the national legislative body of the U.S. 2. a formal meeting or assembly of representatives for discussion, arrangement, or promotion of some matter 3. the act of coming together; an encounter; meeting. 4. an association 5. familiar relations; dealings; intercourse. 6. sexual intercourse. Confusing definitions- it would seem to say a group comes together and someone gets screwed. Surely that can't be right... progress 1. Movement, as toward a goal; advance. 2. Development or growth 3. Steady improvement 4. To advance toward a higher or better stage; improve steadily 5. To increase in scope or severity Talking about the progress of congress would be like an answer of "yes, no"??? Maybe I'm over thinking this? kay |

| Actually all the research I did for my post came from prongo.com. They are located in Illinois, not in the Congo. Many people mistakenly believe they are based in the jungles of the Congo and that there really are predatory prongos who are plotting global domination and threatening our way of life. I was just trying to dispel that myth, obviously with little success. There are much more serious issues to be dealt with, just like Steve was trying to tell us at the beginning. This distraction only hides the real plot, but we don't have much time left. People think this is all just a big joke.

OOPS - sorry Paul - wrote this before your revelation about your findings showed up. Paul.........how can you be absolutely sure there are no Prongos? Have you ever searched the Congo for a prongo? What if Prongos are so afraid of being exterminated that they hide within herds of humans and/or beasts and go by a different name to confuse us? I mean those Bongos all might be Prongos of the Congo in disguise. There are some people who also feel that aliens and ghosts don't exist yet a myriad people insist they have seen or had contact with the like. Neanderthals are thought to still possibly exist in the mountainous areas of China where hairry peoplish creatures are often reported to be seen in the fields by farmers, etc. Do not be so quick in assuming there are no prongos - in the congo or anywhere else. You might just be wrongo. |

Sal, I have presented the evidence. If you read carefully in my research you will notice that I did not discount the possibility of prongos in the Congo, but as of yet there is no evidence of it there nor anywhere on earth. People see things and think it is a prongo, but upon intensive investigative research it was found to be merely another bongo or perhaps some sub species. Bongos are quite common in the Congo and have been seen throughout the sub Sahara region.

Just becuase a prongo tells you it is a bongo doesn't make it so. Prongos are not truthful by nature. Bongos have been known to mimic prongos but you will never see a prongo carrying a bong. Just doesn't happen. Just becuase you don't see a prongo doesn't mean the prongo doesn't see you. Even with one eye they have superior sight. oops, my fancy is flying away - off to catch it. |

| Thanks Thom. Of course! No wonder they couldn't be found. How foolish of me. Now I have to start all over again and all of my extensive research will have to be revised. Curiously, that brings up another question ... what was that thing that Kay really saw? Do you think we still have enough time left for further research?

My original post was tongue in cheek. Your response (I assumed) was tongue in cheek My response to that was tongue in cheek also. I am fully aware that there is no such thing as a "prongo", just as there is no such thing as a "prodom". It was tongue in cheek. So.. ...what agenda am I trying to push?

And I apologize to you for not reading the whole post. It was rather lengthy, and I should have actually READ it, rather than skimming over it. By skimming over your contribution (not protribution) I thought you were trying to condemn (not prodemn) me. I concede (not procede) that I shouldn't have been so confrontational (not profrontational). I concur (not procur) with you on the whole thing now. So, congratulations (not progratulations) to you.
