Hey gang,

Are you up to date on all the upcoming Black Friday sales?

I don't know about you, but I hate crowds more than anyone, but there are a couple deals Friday that I will not miss.

If you have a Menard's in your area, they will be selling a netbook for just $119 after a $20 mail-in-rebate.

Best Buy has a 32" LCD HDTV for just $299!

Here's a great site that has information on all the best Black Friday Ads.

Enjoy, and...

Be careful out there

wow. that is harsh. I have a piddly 19" and God knows I need this 23" because I go nuts everyday jumping from browser to browser with like 6 tabs open and a document I need to see to input data to databases, etc.

Like right now I have the document slimmed down to 4 inches wide and Chrome squeezed at 12". It's a major drag. I have been thinking about this for some time and no better time than when it is on sale!

When I am logging in and out adding customers, I have to keep scrolling to the right every time to get the login dropdown - I know this one main program we use had to be thinking some mega size screen when they designed their interface. They are what gave me the idea I NEED a wider monitor...

Thanks again for the motivation - I probably would have put it off another year!

          Pat,

I went from a 19" CRT to a 24" flat panel and it was the best thing I have done in a while to help my productivity.

          You owe it to yourself...

I try to stock up on everything I might need before the day I renamed "Lunatic Day" so I don't have to go out anywhere on black friday. You couldn't drag me out of bed at 5am for any kind of deal, not even a cute chipmunk.

      I'm with you, Val.

I hate to shop to begin with.
      I dislike big crowds.

Put them together and it's more than I'm willing to endure no matter how great the deals are.

Yeh KJ, right, and I deserve a Cadillac too. heheheehe (XLR) (black) ha ha ha

Dag nabit I spend 12-15 hours everyday staring at this thing. Why not be comfortable?

I also would rather have a root canal than go shopping especially on a Mad House Day.

I love shopping online - I am really starting to feel like I live in my computer, I work here, I bank here, pay bills here, shop here, read the news here, socialize here, never talk on the phone anymore and used to be a phoneaholic, and here I even zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Well after the typical Dell phone run arounds etc. My order is complete!

(to be fair there was a glitch with my Dell credit account that was my fault, so couldn't do online last night).

Good deal as they waived shipping and with tax and all it is about $199 door to door.

I can't wait to get it on December 3!

I took this from Wikipedia -

JANUARY 1966 -- "Black Friday" is the name which the Philadelphia Police Department has given to the Friday following Thanksgiving Day. It is not a term of endearment to them. "Black Friday" officially opens the Christmas shopping season in center city, and it usually brings massive traffic jams and over-crowded sidewalks as the downtown stores are mobbed from opening to closing.

I believe its because due to the sales the stores (hopefully) will be 'in the black'

YEAH theft, taxes, costs. etc... all mean stores have little to keep. This day is supposed to be SO big that it is like THE day. In the red means a deficit. In the black means it is at least even. Just look at it like mcdonalds. mcdonalds has to pay people over $7/hour. MOST of the day, people don't even take in that much. Those rushes make up for it.

Well, got to Menards this morning at 7:30 and wouldn't you know it...

All the $119 laptops were gone!

This is the first time I ventured out on Black Friday, and it will probably be the last. Every cart was gone and I'm guessing, but it would have taken at least an hour to get through a checkout lane.

    Totally insane!

Sorry about that Scot - better off shopping online. I wonder if you can find just as good a deal or better?

      Shop til you drop.

the Toys R Us in my area started a line at 8pm LAST NIGHT.

the local Wal-Mart sold out of their black friday deals within hours

and yes, it means the store will be profitable, or "in the black"

I can only imagine how much money large retailers rake in on black friday
