Well, I mean I'm gaining followers very slowly. I don't use Twitter much I guess.

I think it's getting harder these days too. That is, harder to tell real Twitter users from the spammers.

Then again, maybe it's because I haven't been using Twitter as much as I had either.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I've got little over 6,000 on my personal account...

And about 40,000 spread between 3 or 4 "niche" accounts...

    Peace

660 or so? Most of them aren't really watching. I'd rather have a 100-person targeted list. Still, at least I can drive small amounts of traffic.

I've really neglected twitter, as I find it doesn't do much in terms of driving traffic for me. But I've recently been thinking of giving it another shot. But I'll definitely have to start fresh, as my current twitter account is SPAMMED to the max.

I think a better question to ask is... "how many people can you get to click on a link?"

Sadly, it's less than 1% CTR for just about any marketer who has over 1000 followers.

I'd say 95% (or more) of marketers can not achieve a click thru rate of above 1%.

I don't get huge clicks on most tweets that have links in them, but it's certainly more than 1%.

Trick is, I have no clue, in most cases, how many of those are from direct followers and how many are from re-tweets. I don't tend to do direct promotions, though, so it may be apples and oranges.

No fair Paul. I said "just about any marketer".

You are no average marketer or "any" marketer.

As of right now, I have 5523 followers.

When I tweet a blog post entry, I'd say I get about a 2% CTR. With my
personal list, however, I get about a 10% CTR, so there is no question that
Twitter followers don't carry the same weight as people who opt into your
            list.

For what it's worth, I don't do much with Twitter...never did. I followed a few
people, like Willie Crawford and a couple of others but don't go on a mass
following frenzy just to get followers of other marketers. If I'm on Twitter
            more than 10 minutes a week, that's a lot.
