Homemade Soap - Promoting the little guy.

As some here know. I make homemade candles (all soy) and sell them around this time of year. Just so happens i ran into a guy at the flea market that makes home made soaps, pretty nice soap too. He (and his wife) make an outstanding honey/oatmeal soap. He is a very friendly guy and we got to shooting the breeze about our handmade stuffs and he started telling me about his soaps and how they helped this guy cure some kind of funky skin rash because of the sugar in the honey he uses in his soaps (made from all natural honey from the local honey farmers)

I have had some kind of rash that i'm pretty sure i've picked up because i wear low cut socks/shoes when i ride my motorcycle and between the heat/dirt/oil/bugs/rocks that i get peppered with, my ankles have had a fairly bad rash on them. I"ve only been using this soap about 2 days and I can already tell a difference. On top of smoother skin, the skin on my ankles appears to be clearing up. Also, like most people i get dry skin on my elbows, and have been just using lotion to fix it up. I havent used lotion on my elbows since i started using his soaps and i have absolutley no dry patches.

He makes a lot of excellent soaps, including a patchouli mix that is awesome...all his soaps are $4 has nice packaging and all natural ingredients (including only using essential oils if they are scented) Well worth the 4 bucks.

I highly recommend this guy's stuff. Not a big company, just a guy and his wife that do this from home. So far i have tried his eucalyptus bar, honey and honey/oatmeal and all of them are excellent.

I will check it out Michael - Thanks for the tip.

Really dejavu here - woke up thinking these exact thoughts = not going to doctor about my rashes anymore - swear.

    (all they know is hydrocortizone)

I have what I think is some sort of heat rash - Thought it was from Splenda but haven't used it in a long time -

I know honey has magical properties for sure.

p.s. where is the soap? the site is all candles???

Honey is one of the best skin healers known to man. There is not a commercial product than can top its effectiveness when it comes to healing skin wounds.

I never knew that until my brother-in-law who has a small honey making operation told me about it many years ago. I can't begin to tell you how dramatically honey can help repair your skin. You have to see it to believe it. It's that remarkable.

I've been using it since he mentioned it years ago. I realize it sounds goofy to slather honey on major burns or skin rashes and then bandage the wounds, but if you ever try it you'll become a firm believer in honey's healing powers.

Yeh but the idea of something so sticky on my skin I just can't handle! I guess if you had major burns you wouldn't mind sticky, but I am glad they have concoctions with it in there so you don't have to do sticky straight up!

The goofiest facials I ever did were a yogurt and an avacado - wonderful on a hot day - but neither one is so sticky like honey!

I have major issues lately with different rashes popping up in different places - one on my foot for 5 years the doc says is 'auto immune' - they don't know what causes it, don't know what to do - other than they could burn it off - thanks anyway, I'll pass on a worse looking scar.

there are so many people making their own soap these days it is crazy. Not only can you save a ton of money, but I know of folks that are selling the stuff regularly.

Heck my friends mom even makes the stuff.

Just got an email that my order is being shipped out. They thanked me for my order, and said that they have friends/family near my location. I love the personal touch of a family run website.

I'm going to bump this thread again when my soap arrives to brag on my purchased products. I'm w/ Michael I love promoting the little guy. Would much rather see my money go here than to Wal-Mart.

They are really nice people. The husband reminds me of jeff foxworthy a little. The wife is a selling machine at the flea market. We're trying to work out a deal to make gift baskets with their soap, my candles and another lady's handmade lotions/shampoo

That sounds like a way better idea then the knock off clothing store

Yeah thats my thought too. I'm kind of kicking around an 'all natural' store idea. homemade soaps, shampoos, candles, bamboo clothing, linen, shoes made from renewable sources..etc. People are big into going green and renewable/home made stuff.

They discontinued chocolate honey. I couldn't believe it - It was there the day you started this thread, and 24 hours later, when I went to order - gone...

I figure they are just out - so waiting to see if it will come back before I order - or I am sure I would like all the chocolate, coconut and nougat - it is just that it was supposed to be medicinal honey! That is the only way I can rationalize $5 for a bar of heavenly, sensual soap (at this time).

Plus ordering is going to be tricky because 'you can't get just one' - tee hee

        HI ya Sally Sudds!

I know the Chocolate Honey redirects now to Chocolate Honey Oatmeal. I want chocolate honey. I have a horrible rash on my foot and some other rashes that come and go --- oatmeal/exfoliating those areas does not sound comfortable as they are burning like hell.

Solution: I could get the oatmeal for my face and the regular honey soap for my rashes.

Which soap has the most honey of all?

I am actually a vanilla freak first and chocoholic second. I assume the nougat is your only vanilla? (doesn't count mixed with anything else - pure vanilla is what I am after!)

You can look forward to a sale from me and glad to know about the shipping as I was wondering.
