It's a boy! Very "furry" doc says, but a boy!
Last night, we adopted a 6 week old cub (sounds better than puppy!)... 97% wolf/3% Sib. Husky (on paper, never sure about the guy himself) and looks like a cute little bear cub. He's extremely handsome and if his parents are any indication, he'll grow to be even more handsome.
Adopted from a couple that has been raising "wolf-hybrids" (not the technical name anymore) for 23+ years. I forget how long the man has been doing it, but the wife has been for that long with him I know - that's when they got married.
His parents and their parents have very good tempers and his mom really likes us when we aren't busy making any fast movements near her, her babies or her humans. We didn't know what to expect when leaving with the little guy, but we think she knew (has had a few litters before - people come over, hold a puppy/cub/baby for awhile and poof, she's bound to catch on) because right before we left, she took him alone to the other side of the house and nursed/cuddled for awhile. Or maybe it was a coincidence. lol
Out of the litter, he was one of the darker ones (expected to lighten up like mom/dad), with more distinctive markings, and undoubtedly the biggest one. I would have gone with a female since they bond with males better supposedly, but after a week of deliberation/praying/visiting/checking out others (he was too young to take home the first day we saw) I knew he was mine.
After asking family, friends, etc. we decided to name him "Náhkohe" (and the accented A may be the wrong accent - I'll have to look it up), it means "bear" in a Native American language (lol checked out a lot of words and languages, will have to look up later too). He really does look like a cuddly little bear cub and it's easy to pronounce: "na-ko", the 'na' is said more nasally. He hasn't learned it yet.
Anyway, I'm just excited and felt like telling everyone I could. Even though I'm too worn out to write as much as I wanted to (he's napping in my lap right now too). Also I would like any useful tips/reading/etc. you can suggest. (And yeah, did days of research, before going for a wolf/hybrid.)
I'll upload pics later (and edit grammar/spelling if there's errors),
