This group was one that promoted home loans to low income people - and helped those folks use the same subprime mortgages that brought the system down initially. The claim of not receiving federal money has been widely disputed.
This is, it seems, one of the sticking points for the Repulicans - if any money is made from the $700 billion - it doesn't go to the taxpayers. In fact, Acorn gets a good sized cut in the Democratic version that is now under consideration.
There's skunks in the woodpile, folks. Acorn is considered a left wing organization. Maybe this is one reason Obama hit the campaign trail while McCain went back to D.C.
I'd love to see what Obama would say if asked directly about this type of giveaway added by his party. In fact, it's a question that should be asked of Democratic leaders - and loudly.

Apparent this is the part of the bill Dems are touting as "helping homeowners" - guess only the very poor left wing homeowners will be helped? Or does this just help the organizations supporting the Dems?
