Another question for the computer gurus.

My C: drive about 50% full and starting to run slow. I was wondering if I need all 3 of these MS service pack programs. They are all relatively big and
might help free up space. I am running windows xp. I was going through my add/remove programs and found these 3.

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

Yes. The machine will technically work without them, but there are many microsoft and non microsoft programs that will not work if you remove them.

As stated, the .net framework is a HUGE monstrosity, etc... Removing it will give you more disk spcae but might NOT speed your system up. But some programs may FAIL, or become buggier, if you remove them. Chances are that you WILL need them even if you don't now.

    So KEEP THEM!

HECK, I don't even think the service pack will be applied if you don't have it, so that kind of implies you DO need them NOW!

Short answer: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

An operating system without an upgrade Service Pack is like leaving your urban doors unlocked at night with a sign in your yard that says, "Free stuff Here!"
