Feedback on poor performing site with 145 subscribers please

Hi - I have a wordpress blog at www.underactivethyroids.com which I'm not sure whether to sell or continue to persevere with it. I started the site because my wife has an underactive thyroid with a 5 day eCourse.

I now have 145 subscribers (mainly via a small PPC budget and also from ezines, etc) but have made only 4 affiliate sales, totalling about $65...which I know is a start.

I heard from an "internet guru" recently that anyone should be making some "reasonable" returns if they have a list of 100+ subscribers but I think that I have "lost my way" / focus a little. I have a few articles spread around the 'net on ezines and plan to add 2 more per week.

I'd appreciate your honest appraisal and feedback (good and bad) please, as well as a suggested action plan, to help me take this site to the next level. I'd be happy to consider paying someone for ongoing constructive support/mentoring.

Thanks. Mark

    Hi Mark,

First off, a disclaimer. The numbers I'm about to share aren't rock solid, simply because you haven't made enough sales to really determine your conversion rate.

Now having said that: If you've made four sales from a list of 145 people, then you're getting a response rate of about 2.8% -- and that's a darn fine start.

Depending on what you're selling, some folks can't seem to crack 1% or even 2% conversion rates. If your conversion rate holds, you really are on a good start.

At this point, the single best way to increase your income is to increase the size of your list. So keep working on getting more subscribers. The more subscribers you have, the more money you'll make.

Secondly, work on building your relationship with these subscribers. If you don't already have a multi-message initial autoresponder series in place, put one in (at least 7-12 messages). Give your prospects a mix of content and pitch. Give them solutions. Give them what they want. When you do this, trust grows. And as trust grows, you'll start enjoying an even higher conversion rate.

    So in sum:
    1. Build your list to grow your income.
    2. Build relationships with your list to further boost your response rate.

    Cheers,
    Becky
