    Thats damn high. I thought dubai was pretty much running out of money. whats the point of having the worlds tallest building if you have nobody to go into it?

    and can you imagine having to listen to 160 floors of the elevator muzak version of muskrat love?

    It seems like Dubai is head of for a bigger and improving. Their airport is so big already now it seems like the buildings that can be found their is also big. I think Dubai is improving in terms of economy more than US?

      A few weeks ago, they were talking about a MAJOR collapse that might happen. I THINK it was averted, SHORT TERM, but their economy is NOT that great! ALSO, the world is saying they want to DESTROY it! It is built on oil and a few other things the world says it wants to curtail!

      In all, it provided 57 elevators and eight escalators for the $1.5 billion Burj Khalifa, known until Monday as the Burj Dubai. It was renamed for Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan, president of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi, which late last year loaned Dubai $25 billion to mitigate a real estate market collapse.

    I went to Dubai in April 2009 when the burj was still under construction.

    It was a mighty impressive sight even then

    They've gone kinda crazy over there with all the buildings..its good that they have finally faced some sort of cash crunch. Otherwise the construction projects were becoming just way too extravagant - a pure waste of resources

    That building is insane...its such a target for terroists its not even funny. Could you image working on the top floor and being higher than the actual cloud level! LoL
