In Person Audio Recording Laws - I need advice
If I am engaged in a conversation or someone is talking at me in a public place (not on the phone) I am allowed to make a audio recording without their consent?
Unless I'm wrong Federal law says that there only has to be a one-party consent to either telephone or in person recordings.
Connecticut in-person recording laws I'm not so sure of but even if it isn't a one-party consent (me being the party) but two-party consent, if I hold the recorder up and say I am recording and the other people keep talking isn't consent then assumed on their parts?
I am anticipating being harassed, publicly humiliated and/or falsely accused of something (they being bullies and troublemakers) and want to get it on tape if it happens, primarily as a deterrent hopefully, but if they don't back off I'll have it.
And are there consequences to people who do or claim anything falsely when it taints a person's reputation and hurts their relationships and quality of normal everyday life?
Thank you.
