Let me explain what I'm trying to do. I have windows 7 and haved created a slide video that I want to record in Camstudio pro but I get an error message that the player is not installed. I'm thinking Powerpoint files are not AVI and therefore not compatible with Camstudio. Am I on the right track. I would sure appreciate any help I can get here.

Not sure which format you are trying to convert to AVI but maybe this will help.
AVS Video Converter - a universal AVI to MPEG Converter, AVI to DVD Converter.

Thanks Michael, I'm not sure what format Powerpoint is either. That's part of the problem.I can't find the properties to determine the format.I noticed you're in Kentucky. Where in KY? I'm in KY.

Powerpoint is not a video format and cannot be converted to avi. It's format is it's extension, ppt. Save your slides as a set of individual gif or jpg files and use a movie maker type program to create your avi from them.

Another solution is to just run the slide show and use Camtasia to capture the screen.

Powerpoint can't export a video format files because Powerpoint's files likes Flash animation. However, if your files do not need any interactions, you can try this method.

Hi, l have W7 as well and use Windows Movie Maker, which works well with jpegs, etc, but save frequently it tends to freeze now and then!

Or you could just use the Snipping tool, (default with W7, scissor icon down the bottom) to grab the image!
