get you ready to take action!

I'm not the morning type of person at all, I'll tell you that up front. That being said I'm also the type of person that doesn't eat breakfast - but trying to change that for the better here in 2010.

The smoothie is very easy to make and just takes about 3 minutes to do. The smoothie that I made is very healthy and doesn't contain any dairy at all - we're currently fasting and we can't have dairy at the moment.

1/2 cup soy milk (tastes just like regular milk and you can't even notice it in the smoothie)
1 Banana
1/3 cup of red berries
3 ice cubes

Just put all the ingredients inside of your blender and blend it for about 1 minute. This will make about 10-12 oz I believe and it's very very good. I had mine about 45 minutes ago and I'm wide awake and getting ready to take action on my business!

Tomorrow I plan on making one with just strawberries - if you have a good smoothie recipe share it with the rest of WF!

love breakfast smoothies. pretty much any berries are good for smoothies and usually the darker berries tend to have more antioxidants

Can't say that im a huge fan of soy milk though

Something we do with our smoothies to make them a bit less "watery" is to freeze the soy milk into ice cubes.

Then use the soy-cubes in the drink.

Really simple flavor adder----table spoon of GOOD peanut butter into the mix!

I usually use powered cream to thicken it a bit. or even a tad bit of sugar free ice cream.

I'd just eat the berries and banana and call it breakfast. No cleanup

Like commedian Lewis Black says, soy milk isn't milk, it's juice. Milk comes from nipples and soy doesn't have nipples.

    Kurt,
    I agree 100%.

I have tasted Soy milk, several brands of it, and while it is an aqquired taste, it isn't terribly bad, it just isn't "milk".

Our local grocery store carries a fake ice cream product, I can't remember the name right now, but it's basically ice cream made with cocoanut "milk" instead of dairy milk.
Like Soy, it isn't terribly bad,but it isn't ice cream.

Edit: I googled it, here's their sales page:

Agreed---soy never will have that "aahhhhh!" taste that a cold glass of milk has. However, my wife lost a large portion of stomach due to bad bad bad ulcer and now anything that comes close to milk quickly creates a need for an emesis basin.

So, soy has become a best friend on cereal and smoothies. Large glass to quench thirst...nope!

You could also use coconut milk. Great in smoothies and if you throw in 1/2 avocado it doesn't add much in the way of taste but makes it sooo creamy! And adds lots of potassium - avocados have more than bananas

Some great tips here, I gotta try freezing the soy milk into cubes and see how that comes out. I added the cubes because I believe that adds thickness to the smoothie, am I right?

I'm not sure about the PB, I love PB but in a smoothie... I think I'll pass on that! lol
