Do Images load faster on VPS hosting?

I've just realised shared and reseller hosting seem to be no longer enough if wanting to keep up with site load speed, especially in the image load arena.

So have purchased a VPS hosting account and now having all my stuff moved over but I wonder will this improve my image load speed or am I doomed until I step up to deciated and addon loads of stuff?

It should improve your image load speed. In order to further improve it you need to choose a VPS that are near your targeted visitors geographical area.

If most of your visitors are from the UK, you need to get one from the UK and so forth.

But web server wise, you should feel a significant speed boost by having your own VPS compared to shared hosting account.

Actually, VPS hosting basically IS shared hosting. It is ONLY that VPS shares resources, and "shared" also shares the same OS. SO, with the SAME parameters, VPS would actually be SLOWER because you are going through TWO OS layers and have the switching to deal with.

Hmmm my host never said this, they said it will be much faster. None of my images load in under 9 seconds currently according to tools.pingdom.com and someone else using the same theme on bluehost shared hosting doesn't have the same problem. I guess it's the host I'm using.. "Hostgator".

Well, you asked a question, and I answered it. A GOOD company will probably use larger systems, and service fewer accounts, on a VPS server, and THAT would make it faster, but then the same would work for shared systems ALSO! And, hopefully, a VPS system won't have as much contention for disks. Even if they use the same disk, they each have their own part.

BTW Servicing an account can be very expensive. Lets say a system cost $1000, the T1(or whatever) cost $200/month, and you wanted to deduct it over 3 years. That would be over $227/month. NOBODY wants to do that. The simple and obvious solution is to SHARE! On a DEDICATED system, only the $200/month would be shared, unless you paid for the full line. On others, all is shared(shared has several accounts on the same OS(sharing the OS), and VPS has each account in a separate OS). THAT way, if you had 100 accounts on the system, the cost drops to $2.27/month, and the rest is PROFIT!

Just trying to put it in perspective.
