I agree, but WHEN will it STOP!!!!!!?????

Giancarlo Casagrande, 60, of Bergamo, risked having his assets confiscated
GIVE ME A BREAK! He could well be on a FIXED INCOME!

unless he resumed paying €350 ($550) a month and €12,000 in arrears to his daughter, Marina, after he decided three years ago she was old enough to pay her own way.
Perhaps $700/month for someone that really has practically NO expenses? If she were in denmark, last I knew(1989), she would make about $10/hour, so 70 hours work. That's less than 4hours a day, if she gets weekends off! Of course, Denmark DID have about 50% tax, so the $10 becomes $5, but why can't she work even 8 hours? And the minimum wage(YEAH, the $10 was MINIMUM) has probably gone UP in the 20 years since! I think the US rate has basically doubled, so the $10 would be $20 or about $10 AFTER taxes!

BTW I use Denmark because it is ALSO an EU nation, ALSO in europe, and I actually asked people about it when I was there.

Eight years after she was due to graduate with a degree in philosophy, Ms Casagrande is still working on her thesis and lives with her mother. The allowance was fixed when her parents divorced in 1997 .
So she really never planned to work! And this counts under child support. She isn't physically or chronologically a child anymore. If she wants to claim mental or emotional impairment, and do this garbage, maybe she should be committed.

'It's easy to say she is a bambocciona,'' her mother said, using the Italian slang for children who refuse to leave home, which roughly translates to big baby. ''But it's hard for children to find work today.''
She IS a big baby, and another word that starts with a B. She should have been fined by the courts for wasting their time. OH YEAH, unskilled(and she IS unskilled) workers in the US have over TWICE the level of unemployment of skilled workers. I imagine it is the same in italy!

Two years ago a Milan court dismissed an application by an engineer, 36, to force his father to pay a €2000 monthly allowance.
Makes you wonder if she is giving the judge something, huh?

A legal expert said Mr Casagrande was easy to sue because he had broken off payments to his daughter without seeking a settlement.
      What does he owe HER!?!?

Her mother said the student had been trying to make ends meet as a dance instructor and promised she was no slacker.

''Marina should graduate in March with a thesis on the holy grail,'' she said.
DANCE INSTRUCTOR? Degree in philosophy? Not a slacker!?!?!?!? Like the old comedies of a robot in such a situation... "DOES NOT COMPUTE! DOES NOT COMPUTE! DOES NOT COMPUTE! ERROR ERROR ERROR.,..... BZZZT PFFT"! OKAY, we REALLY need a smoke icon!

It is INCREDIBLE what courts EVERYWHERE seem to be "awarding"!

Roberto Calderoli, a cabinet member, called the ruling ''a slap in the face for good sense''.
        I couldn't agree more. :p

Wow - that will be useful on a resume!

I've seen the attitude (though not the monetary awards) in the US, too, where 20 and 30 somethings are referred to as "children".

Indulgent parents creating self-indulgent children? Grow up, already!

APPARENTLY, people can generally act like kids up to about 25.

Up to 25, they can get special help, be considered youths, etc... They can be included on most insurance policies. They may not be able to rent a car, or get certain insurance.

At 25, the help is GONE, they aren't considered youths, and car companies and insurance companies are fine.

HEY, by 25 the average person has at LEAST a BA or BS, is married, and may have kids.

But for someone to DEMAND an allowance? INCREDIBLE! BTW I knew a person one time, who was probably WELL into his 40s or later. He was from Greece. HE only got about $5000/month allowance! But his father was FILTHY RICH, basically had a world wide monopoly, and I am told he WANTED to do give his son the money! HEY, GREAT! But USUALLY, I think this is going TOO FAR!

BTW BOTH Warren Buffet and Bill Gates said that they will NOT leave a lot of money to their kids. Kind of tells you something.

Putting aside issues of common sense and personal responsibility - does anyone else shudder at the thought of still living with your parents at that age or beyond?!

Our generation has rasied a generation of kids with a major feeling of entitlement.
If you want to see who is to blame, look in the mirror.
(That said, I of course offer this disclaimer. Not all of us raised them that way, sadly it just seems to be the majority did.)
